I bought this for my 4 year old who is dressing as Hermione for Halloween this year. And this "Monster Book of Monsters" is just the perfect prop to complete her Halloween costume.

And as an added bonus if you pull it's tongue it vibrates.

She also loves to take it to daycare and snuggle up with it at naptime.

I gave this as a gift to my Harry Potter-obsessed friends and they adored it. It doesn't do much other than shake when you pull its tongue, but it brings a priceless smile to those who loved the books.

The wait was worth it.

We purchased this plush as a gift for our 12 year old Potter fan and she absolutely loves it. Even her 5 year old brother loves it, especially when he pulls the tongue. It was a big hit with her friends too. In fact, we bought a second one to give as a birthday gift. It is soft and light, making it an easy travel toy. It is a nice edition to any Potter fan's collection. The one caveat ... there seems to be no way to replace the battery. A major flaw in this otherwise whimsical and charming toy.

this is overpriced. [...]. Before considering ordering this, make sure you google it first. you might end up seeing this for a lot cheaper. I also came across an old post stating that amazon use to have this listed [...]. but i guess due to popular demand, the vendors jacked up the price and its ridiculous. hope this helps.

I don't understand why this product lists for $60 here on Amazon while it only costs around $20 at other websites, including the official Warner Brothers website. It's all the same item, licensed by NECA, you pull the tongue and it growls and vibrates. Buyer beware, and do your research before overpaying for this product.

Otherwise, for you Potterheads out there, this is a great addition to your collection of licensed HP products. Just don't pay too much for it!

I love the Monster Book of Monsters! I teach a Harry Potter class at a summer camp and this book was the hit with the students. They loved "stroking the spine" of the book and when they did, I pulled the tongue and made the book vibrate. I wish it had some fake writing on the inside, but, it's really neat. If you are a Harry Potter buff and you like neat items that resemble that which you've seen on the screen and read in the book, this item fits the bill nicely.

This is a must have for the die hard Harry Potter fan. It is basically a stuffed animal but so adorable and it looks just like the monster book in the movie. I bought it for my 9 year old Harry Potter fan and she loved it. (but her room is starting to look like Hogwarts as we add this to the collection)

This is a cute toy that I'm sure any Harry Potter fan can love. It is however, not what I expected when I bought it. The construction is essentially a cardboard box with fur on it, and the "shaking" is actually just vibration caused by the pull-string tongue. Other people had mentioned that there's no way to replace the batteries, well that's because they're aren't any. The tongue is kind of finicky, so make sure to not pull it out all the way, since it tends to get caught on the fabric. I got this toy as a gift for my Harry Potter fan girlfriend, and despite my comments above, loved it anyways.

I got this product, and its ADORABLE! Its fuzzy, with multiple eyes, teeth, and it even opens like the book it is. However, when you pull its tongue, its supposed to shake, I knew before I bought it that it was impossible to replace the battery after it wore out, but what I didn't know was that somehow, within the first day of owning it, the tongue somehow got over pulled and now sticks out and it only shakes for about a second, rather than the 15-ish that it shaked when I got it. So, be careful how far and hard you pull the tongue, or else it'll look like the book had a few too many ton-tongue toffee's!!

My daughter is a huge Harry Potter fan. She loved this book for HP roleplaying. It is actually rather cute in person. It appears well made overall. I thought it would be more soft and cuddly but, it is rather firm. The book/mouth opens up partially which I didn't expect but, it adds to its charm.
