Some of the pieces are very difficult to ascertain that they are in the right spot--can fit in more than one spot, so more of a challenge than some puzzles.

This is a pretty typical 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. The pieces are pretty durable and the puzzle image is good enough.
There are two big draw backs to the puzzle. First, the pieces all fit together, more or less. That is to say, pieces that don't belong together fit together well enough so that it seems like they belong together. I feel like I've spent as much time pulling pieces apart as I have putting pieces together. It's extremely difficult to put the black border pieces together because I have to try every possible piece looking for the perfect fit, not just a great fit. My kids (8 & 11) have enjoyed putting other 1000 piece puzzles together, but quickly gave up on this one because the pieces are so frustrating. Second, the box is fairly small, so the pieces barely fit in the box. The cover of the box is divided between a picture of Harry Potter, which is not part of the puzzle, and the puzzle image. As a result, the the image of the puzzle that you're trying to assemble is very small. It's hard to decipher any detail of the puzzle from the box.

This is a challenging puzzle for the experienced. The pieces are all cut similarly, colors are hard to place, a true challenge.
The quality isn't the best, some pieces falling apart. Is such a beautiful finished product that a little gluing of pieces was worth it for us.

My teenage daughters, who are very good completing puzzles, found this puzzle very frustrating. We had also received the Maurauder's Map puzzle and had the same experience. Too many of the pieces fit each other. This issue in addition to the monochromatic colors made completing the puzzle a trying experience. There are so many great puzzles available to waste time and effort on this. I would never buy a puzzle from this manufacturer again.

We do puzzles as a family often and since my 11 year old daughter is into Harry Potter we go this for her for Christmas. Parts of the puzzle are difficult but can be figured out. Other parts however like Hedwig and the Mountain under the castle are pure trial and error for placement. This in itself is not that bad except for the fact that, as other reviewers have mentioned, many pieces fit together and look just fine until you get close to finishing and realize the pieces you have left don't fit right.
I have done some hard puzzles in the past, like the popcorn, postage stamps, and coins puzzles, and though they were hard there was always the fact that a piece would for the most part only fit into one place. Not true with this one. I don't even think we will manage to finish it, been working on it for three months. It will probably go in the trash instead of on our walls like other puzzles. Pass on this one, especially if you have kids working on it.

This was definitely a challenging puzzle. As mentioned before, some pieces are so similar it's difficult to tell if they are in the correct place. Our biggest disappointment was after a lot of hard work, we found a total of 50 pieces were missing. This was a brand new box and no pieces were dropped on the floor. I could understand a few missing pieces and would have expected that we likely lost them, but 50?? Big disappointment.
