Good Postcards with Minor Edits, August 22, 2011
This review is from: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Postcard Book (Cards)
I am an avid postcard sender and Harry Potter fan. As such, I was thrilled to discover this postcard book for a reasonable cost. Overall, these cards are well done. They are perforated on the left edge to tear out easily from the spine of the book. I wish the perf was a bit more fine so the tear left fewer jagged edges, but it doesn't tear the postcards, so it is adequate. This collection does a good job of including images of many characters. I am missing one postcard that I already sent, and I can't remember everyone who was on it. The breakdown (minus the one I already sent) is as follows:
Single person cards
Harry - 4
Ron - 1
Hermione - 1
Hagrid - 4
Draco Malfoy - 1
Dumbledore - 2
McGonagall - 1
Quirrell - 1
Group or other cards:
Harry and the Dursleys -1
Harry and Ron - 3
Ron and Hermione - 1
Harry, Ron and Hermione - 5
Hagrid, Harry, Ron and Hermione - 1
Harry, Hagrid and Quirrell - 1
Classroom shots (with main characters) - 2
Hogwarts Express - 1
The pictures are colorful and show a variety of characters. However, I only gave it four stars, as there is some editing that I could do without. The eye color change with Harry (green instead of blue) isn't consistent on all the pics, and it doesn't match the movie, as they edited some and left the color the same in others. However, more than that, I wish that these were just straight pictures from the movie. Instead, images are added to the foreground on several of the cards. I find these images rather distracting. The blurred edges around most of the cards, combined with the added images (chocolate frog cards, plates of food at the Leaky Cauldron, etc.) are my least favorite thing about the book.
Overall, this is a great book and a wonderful set of postcards from a big postcard and Harry Potter fan. I hope to discover other such inexpensive gems to continue my postcard hobby.
