Harry Potter Tie Costume Accessory

This is a regular tie, not a clip-on. It's about 50 inches long (not 54 inches from the product description) from end to end. The material is soft and silky to the touch and appears well made.

I was most concerned about the color being too purple, as I had read in many reviews. Fortunately, it is not the bright purple I thought it might be. It is nearly burgundy with just a touch too much purple. Lighting affects its appearance. In a shady room, the purple is not noticeable and the tie appears burgundy. In the dark of Halloween, no one will notice. I see the purple best when holding the tie in natural sunlight and looking at it from the proper angle. My kids like the ties (I bought two), and I'm not going to mention the color problem, since they don't seem to have a problem with it.

Ordered five of these for day out to watch Deathly Hallows part 2 Imax NYC. They were just the job. I was hesitant about the negative reviews on colour, it seems many people have different opinions on what is burgandy,purple,reds etc...), but the more expensive deluxe version (available too at Warner Bros $24.95 + S&H) has similar mixed reviews. These I reckon are same colour, with deluxe you get the school badge at the bottom. We watch HP movies a lot and I cannot recall ties having badge at bottom, so these cheaper may be more accurate too.

The reviews are so mixed and confusing I even briefly considered getting Slytherin ties.

Bottom line, we got noticed plenty (no costumes,just ties over white shirts), lots of smiling faces for us Gryffindors and people starting conversations about Harry Potter. It seemed pretty obvious to New Yorkers we met what these ties represented, so I wouldn't let the negative reviews sway you, especially on the colour, as the deluxe version is same, so unless you really want the badge for around $10.00 extra, these are great for looking like you go to school at Hogwarts.

The reviews saying that this tie is purple are quite true. But if you're going to a Harry Potter party, or if you have the rest of the outfit, there's no mistaking what it is, it's simply more purple than the picture. The quality is very nice though, definitely a tie you can keep wearing to other occasions as well.

Just be aware that this tie is most likely child-sized: I am 5'2" and it's a couple inches short on me. Not a huge deal, unless you're particular about those kinds of things.

I bought this tie for my young nephew's birthday because... and I quote, "Aunt Kim, I WEEEELLY want the GWIFFENFLOOR tie from Haweee Pottooo." His wish is my command. He loves it so much he sleeps with it on.

Yes, buy this product. It is very authentic looking, and it is easy to put on. It is also comfortable to wear, and of nice quality. Not on the heavy side, but with enough weight to feel "real"

This was a great tie for my son to learn tying! It arrived in great condition and is very durable!

This made the look! Everyone who knows anything about Harry Potter, knew that it represented the Gryffindor House! My girls just loved this piece that completes the look! It is of "real tie" quality as well...

This tie completes the costume! My daughter wore it when she was Hermione Granger for Halloween. It's a bit thick and slippery, but my husband was able to finally get it tied properly. Looked great!

This is a quality-made very nice tie for a child who wants to dress like a Gryffindor. The color is indeed slightly more purple than maroon, but my son doesn't mind at all, and this is not a cheap, skimpy piece. It's a nice complement to any Harry Potter costume.

Some other reviews said the color was off - it wasn't. The tie looked fine, and everyone understood that it was a Harry Potter tie.
