4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, playful, and mildly amusing.
This product plays three sounds. The sounds can be triggered with either movement or touch. It was a very fun prop for halloween. The only downside to this product is its size. It is wider at the base than I imagined and I had a very hard time fitting it into my costume. For the price though, this product is the best option. For any Harry Potter or wizarding fans please...

It is not very realistic at all and would only appeal to very young children. We didn't have any problems with the batteries as stated in other reviews and it has worked fine, she just lost interest in it almost immediately. A very boring product to say the least. The only reason to buy it would be to use with a child's HP costume. Also, you can't shut it off. If you touch it, it lights up and makes noise. The only way to stop it is to take the batteries out.

this was what my nephew really wanted for Christmas. it was inexpensive enough, that should have been a warning. it took fits to get the batteries in right so that it would turn on. then once it started working after a few "spells" it started shorting out. maybe lasted 5 minutes. we were always able to resurrect it but i doubt it will last longer than a few weeks. i would have preferred to have spent more and been assured he could enjoy it for a long while.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stopped Working Within 3 Hours, May 2, 2009
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

This wand is absolute junk. On the back of the wand is a plate that must be unscrewed to install two AA batteries. The batteries are a tight fit with one going up into the body of the wand. When you shake the wand or make any movement the tip of the wand lights up and makes a noise.

Within three hours, the toy no longer worked at all. My guess is that there is a loose connection but there is no way to see it because the negative connection and wire are in the body of the wand which is impossible to get to. Why they couldn't have made a better battery compartment with an on/off switch is beyond me. We didn't spend a lot for the toy but I do expect it to work for longer than three hours.

The ONLY reason we are keeping it is because my son loves it and can still pretend even though the wand does not work.

I have to give the manufacturer credit -- they've figured out a way to create a product that never functions quite the same. Each wand I bought for my three kids stopped working as intended within the first 24 hours of purchase. The first one would only activate intermittently, the second one didn't make a sound at all right out of the box (I kept it since we needed it for Halloween), and the third one made sounds even when you didn't move it. Seriously, it's a very poorly made toy. You're probably better off buying a wand that doesn't make any sound but looks more like the real deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son is inseparable from this wand., December 20, 2008

My seven-year-old son loves this wand, though you should know he listens to the Harry Potter series on tape from the library ALL THE TIME. We ordered it for his birthday after receiving an Amazon gift certificate. We read the reviews that said it was piece of cheap plastic c**p, so that's what we were expecting. It did not break right away, but the light stopped working after about a week's constant use. I took apart the body of the wand and taped the wire back in place with electrical tape, and it has worked fine for the past two months. Being the only toy, in the history of my two children, that wasn't ignored after a few days, I would say it is easily the best value for the money in toyland that we've experienced. (Though, to be honest, it is a hunk of cheap-looking plastic, and the noise will drive you crazy.)

This was the only thing my daughter asked for for Christmas. It was broken coming out of the box and never worked. The item itself was cheap, flimsy and poorly cast. The plastic pieces didn't fit together well, the seams were ragged and the battery case next to impossible to open. Once again, I wish Amazon would give the option of zero stars as one star implies there is something worthwhile about it.

The wand with sound and light isn't what I was expecting, but we have enjoyed it. I knew it lit up and was expecting it to be more of a flashlight, but it actually lights when you "cast spells" with it. The action of your arm movement causes it to light and make "magical" sounds. It has 3 different sounds that it makes. It has been fun-I'm as big a kid when it comes to stuff like this as my children are!

We're die-hard Harry Potter fans and we LOVE this wand. With sounds and a lighted end that emulate the films, both my little wizards (ages 5 & 8) have had hours of fun casting spells galore. It's the closest thing to a "real" Harry Potter wand I've found - and I've searched everywhere. Durable and affordable, too.

I ordered the first wand, and it didn't work. Was sent another wand - also didn't work, Sent a third wand - didn't work either. Even if they did work, they are clunky and cheaply made. Quite tacky. Don't waste your money on this junk.
