Mattel evidently listened to customer complaints and is now making the pieces out of a softer, rubberized plastic. Arms and other appendages bend, don't break. Reproduction of the figures in the film is fairly accurate, although the board is a bit too small for these pieces, making it hard to move without knocking them over.

The great thing about this is that it increased my son's enthusiasm for learning how to play chess. The game instructions are brief but clearly written for those who don't know the rules. Not a bad investment for the price.

We got this chess set yesterday, and Ive already had to glue 3 pieces !...
The set is beautiful and looks like the set from the movie. But if you drop a piece, like
kids (and adults) will do,- your elbow knocks one off the table, or a piece falls off when you are carrying the board
across the room, they shatter on the floor! I was hoping it would have been more durable. My son is 6, and has really
tried to be so careful with it because he loves it.
it is too bad!

Looks great. The color of the plastic is like real granite. The pieces are hollow and therefore a bit light but I could use some drywall spackling paste or something to put inside them - they are open on the bottom and that would easily help and make them "weigh real."

after reading many reviews stating that the game pieces easily broke I was hesitant in ordering but I went ahead and got the game anyway because of such a great price. I am glad I did! The pieces are very durable and have never broken even after many times of playing chess. My husband and sons love this game! I recomend this game to anyone who wants a great wizard chess set.

Great idea, great toy. My 8yr old son loves this but unfortunately the pieces are made of a very soft material that chips and breaks. We were gluing pieces back together the first day he owned it. Very disappointed in the quality esp. for the price. Great idea but the quality needs major improvement, never seen something fall apart so fast.

This Harry Potter Wizard Chess set is terrible. Although the pieces look great they are incredibly fragile. We broke a number of the pieces during the first use under normal conditions. I am really disappointed with it and would recommend that people avoid the set.

this is one of the most expensive cheap things ive ever purchased. a folded cardboard board and bendy plastic pieces. had i known that that is what it contained i would have reconsidered before purchase.

I bought this chess set for my 10 year old grandson. The wizard shapes are awesome and he is having great fun learning to play chess the "wizard way".

I was a little worried about the quality of this chess set when I ordered it, but I was pleased with it's construction when it arrived. It looks just like the set from the movie. My son will have a lot of fun with this. He likes to pretend the pieces are destroying each other like they do in the movie, and I think this set will hold up!

This chess set is a wonderful deal for $20, the pieces are detailed and durable, the only drawback would be the board is a little small, but not too small.
