Editorial Reviews

Review

"Dr. Sneider is this country's leading rebounding authority and trainer. A unique exercise that we enthusiastically recommend for both cardiovascular fitness and strength is called Resistive Rebounding...developed by Dr. Harry Sneider, an athletics and fitness coach for thirty years. Resistive Rebounding requires only a mini-trampoline and one-, two-, or three-pound weights. It is so simple and convenient a means of exercising the entire body that many people tend to think, 'How could something so easy and fun be so good for you?' If it were a bit more complicated, more costly, or caused greater discomfort, it would probably be more popular. The fact is that Resistive Rebounding will probably revolutionize the fitness movement in the next decade, not only for world class athletes, but for everyone interested in fitness....you can rebound no matter the weather.

Rebounding is probably the best all-around exercise you can get." -- Best selling authors of Fit For Life, Harvey and Marilyn Diamond

"Of all the pieces of equipment in my gym including the LifeCycle, Stairmaster, Treadmill, and Nordic Trac I prefer working out on the Rebounder doing your Daily Dozen program using your Soft Handweights. It's easy, fun and gives me a complete total body workout. I feel exhilarated when I'm finished. Thanks so much." -- Ilze Rita, Minneapolis, Minnesota USA

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring and Outdated. A Waste Of Money!, June 5, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Harry and Sarah Sneider's Olympic Trainer: Fitness Excellence through Resistive Rebounding (Paperback)
As a certified Personal Trainer, I bought this book with the understanding that I was buying something that was truly "new and revised" for the 21st century. Boy was I wrong!

Briefly, don't buy this book if you want any information regarding resistive and/or urban rebounding. This is a book that was revised in 1981 and has about as much information for someone who is serious about fitness as a kid in a phys-ed trampoline class. It just doesn't work. To further illustrate this point, they even have a section on cheerleading and "how" to make jumps (which is misinformed and incorrect by today's standards). Boring and outdated to say the least. As if the reader wasn't already searching for some substance, the authors (Harry and Sarah) have pictures of their grandson holding his diploma (for what I don't know). Just to take up space, I guess.

This book isn't worth the effort or money for the beginner or casual reader. Look elsewhere for new and revised information in the field of rebounding. As a side note, don't pay attention to the editor's review. He must have been a paid relative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ageless and Timeless, June 20, 2005
This review is from: Harry and Sarah Sneider's Olympic Trainer: Fitness Excellence through Resistive Rebounding (Paperback)
I have been in the fitness industry for over 25 years. We all know there is truly nothing new under the sun, only new presentations and combinations of the old! There are certain things that have not changed in 25 years in this fitness industry! The important basics, most experts agree, haven't changed: Sound stretching, Strengthening with resistance, and Cardiovascular basics! I feel Dr. Sneider's book is the pioneering standard in the industry. Being a 2 Time Women's World Long Drive Champion, I have found Resistive Rebounding to be one of the many secrets to my power!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better use of my rebounder, I can ski better, June 29, 2001
By
"rpconnelly" (PASADENA, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Harry and Sarah Sneider's Olympic Trainer: Fitness Excellence through Resistive Rebounding (Paperback)
Having competed in wrestling in high school, and swimming in college, I have tried to stay fit, even though I now qualify for AARP membership. I discovered the use of rebounding for cardio warm-ups several years ago, and found my hips, legs, ankles and feet were the better for it. Dr. Sneider's book, added to my understanding and practice in several ways. First, he cites several journals and authorities on what I felt to be true, but could not objectively prove to my friends. For example: "...the G-force (gravity) was almost the same at all these points (ankle, back, forehead ) ..." ( page 131 ) In addition, I had attempted to add hand weights while rebounding, but found that coordination and balance issues were a problem, until I saw the "SanBag's" in Dr. Sneider's book. These little cloth bags filled with sand add resistance without threat of injury. Finally, I had done most of the dozen recommended exercises on my own, but the sport-related pages have helped me. Specifically, the pages on skiing gave me great flexibility, good muscle tone, endurance so that once again I could enjoy a variety of terrain when downhill skiing. So, speaking as an early baby boomer, this book has allowed me to up the ante in my exercise program, while avoiding the major "Ouch's".
