It's been a long time since I saw this movie in 1974, and after watching it on Cable, I decided to buy a copy for my library. No regrets. This movie shows Art Carney at his level best. Carney was always a good comic on the "Honeymooners," but he came into his own as a serious actor in the few flicks he made late in his life (check out "Going in Style" with George Burns or "The Late Show" with Lily Tomlin). "Harry and Tonto" is an episodic, picaresque road trip, in which the aging teacher travels from coast to coast, eventually losing his cat, but finding a new self
