Photographs and Web pages, mainly in color, provide the books' illustrations. Truman begins with the controversial decision to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This decision is described as characteristic of the man's presidency, "straightforward" and "no nonsense." The book discusses the Marshall Plan and the Truman Doctrine. Taylor is a concise account of a great soldier who rose through the ranks to become a major general and the 12th U.S. president.
