This legal "dramedy" stars the extremely talented Kathy Bates (Academy Award for Best Actress for Misery) as Harriet "Harry" Korn, a 60-year-old, high-roller patent attorney from Cincinnati who has become so burned out, she does nothing at her job but smoke marijuana, eat junk food and watch cartoons until her boss fires her. Shortly thereafter, she starts an unconventional law practice by taking over a former shoe store and pursuing criminal defense in a dangerous inner-city neighborhood. In the process, she forms an eccentric family of affiliation with three other people who join her project. Brittany Snow (Finding Amanda, John Tucker Must Die) plays Jenna Backstrom, Harry's beautiful, twenty-something assistant from her former job. Nathan/Nate Corddry (United States of Tara, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) is Adam Branch, a young, idealistic, corporate-law hotshot who, like Harry, wants a more meaningful legal practice. British actor Aml Ameen (The Bill) plays Malcolm Davies, a brilliant, 19-year-old whom Harry meets when, while trying to commit suicide, he jumps off a building and lands on top of her. Harry helps him out of poverty-based trouble with the law and then offers him a position in her firm as an intern.Read more ›

Why isn't Harry's Law out on DVD yet? They've cancelled the show. We want all seasons of Harry's Law on DVD!!!

Update 02-26-14: I have seen DVDs of season 1 advertised online. There is one on eBay that claims to be autographed by Kathy Bates. Do any of you other fans know about these? Are they pirated? POC? Thanks for any info.

Harry's Law features a refreshing combination of quirky characters who create a different type of legal drama series. It redefines the law drama by tackling double-edged cases, often unpopular cases, that make the viewer think about all the murky grey area between right and wrong. Many of the cases are not clear-cut or popular and often the case boils down to the need to defend what a character thinks is right even though the odds are against him or her. But what makes this stand so interesting is that there are no cheap gimmicks to save the day. Disappointment often prevails. Kathleen Bates is a complex character. She loves shoes but her personality is nothing but polished. I tuned in just because I was a Kathleen Bates fan, but all the characters are engaging in the way that they play off of Bates. This is a TV drama series in its own element.

We love this show! We love Kathy Bates!

I cannot believe that NBC is cancelling it because the demographic is "too old." What is that all about? Baby boomers have the most disposable income of any "demographic.' So the audience loses and the advertisers lose too. And yes, we've written to NBC to complain.

This show is well written, well acted and not everybody in it is "pretty" or a size 2. (Granted there ARE some ladies like that but they're still great.) I didn't enjoy season 2 locale change as much (out of the shoe store) but I think this show is gutsy and fun and SMART!! Both Seasons!

This was an excellent show, mature, and interesting. What television is supposed to be. And as realistic as TV can be about the aggravation of trying cases.

From David E. Kelley, the creative connoisseur of legal drama, comes NBC's "Harry's Law", the latest addictive sensation which carries with it some of the delightfully quirky undertones of "Boston Legal" - yet has a freshness all of its own, with a first-class ensemble cast, headed by Kathy Bates. Like William Shatner's take on the character of "Denny Crane", I could not imagine anyone other than Kathy Bates playing "Harrie". This is a very special little gem!!!!!
