4.0 out of 5 stars Fun within reason
Some of the other reviewers seemed to have expectations that they're going to gain some major altitude in these things. That's not really the intention... My kids really like them. When you jump around on them, it makes the jumper bounce everywhere they go, and they do gain a little height. But jumping (for kids) is just plain fun... this adds to it. And they're noisy,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Umm..I can barely jump on this thing
Well, first of all..I'm 13 so I guess I'm probably out of the weight range for these things now..but nonetheless, I still think these dont work very well. For little kids, these shoes help with balancing skills..and I have to admit they're pretty awesome on a trampoline (i did almost sprain my ankle tho). On the ground, though, they're just loud, heavy, shoes that clonk...

And they're noisy, noisy, noisy, but aren't kids noisy anyway??? When they're outside jumping, I can hear them indoors... at least I know they haven't wandered off! We recommend them, as long as you don't think you're going to be able to jump onto the house with them. Also, be careful jumping on any slick surfaces, as a twisted ankle is likely to occur.

5.0 out of 5 stars my kids love these, November 4, 2004
This review is from: Purple Moon Shoes (Toy)
My kids, ages 7 and 9, both love these. They are NOT for jumping really high - they just make jumping even more fun. The kids had a hard time walking in them, but as soon as they figured out they should jump everywhere instead of trying to walk, they won't take them off. You do have to add more rubber bands the heavier you are - but with all the rubber bands on, even I could use them. Definitely recommend these!

This is an excellent toy! It teaches chilren how it feels to be able to walk on the moon. But at the same time, it is as fun as having a 25 scoops of peanut-butter ice-cream!

P.S.~ This toy is even at the flight museum in Seattle. Aand oh yeah, I am 10. I don't know if that really means anything if I am 10 though, but it might! And thanks for making this fabulause toy!
Your Friend,
Katie

4.0 out of 5 stars Made a great gift, October 4, 2005
This review is from: Purple Moon Shoes (Toy)
I got the moon boots for a very girly girl 7 year old who hates to get dirty, not wearing anything but a dress and anything not pink. Not only does she love them and spent three hours in them the first time outside, but she came in sweaty..covered in dirt, bruises and had the biggest smile on her face. These things finally got her into a pair of jeans! Talk about a great gift.

They're kind of pointless and will probably end up under a pile of junk in your garage.

1.0 out of 5 stars Total piece of junk, February 5, 2006
This review is from: Purple Moon Shoes (Toy)
these seemed like such a good idea and my daughter and her best friend were actually willing to spend their own hard-earned money on them. So we bought them and I spent an hour or so assembling the two pairs. Within an hour we knew they had to go back. First and foremost, the girls were totally disappointed in what they did. Blame the box, it's deceptive, but I was willing to chalk that up to real world education and would have let my daughter deal with the lesson. More disturbing was that we had to replace a half dozen or more of the black rubber bands within that time, they snapped. Now I know why they give you so many, it's not just for the heaviest kids (who proabably are too old for the toy to begin with.) It's so every time the kids use them an adult can spend time putting new bands on...until you run out. Needless to say, they went back the same day.

2.0 out of 5 stars My Son Expected More, November 25, 2005

This review is from: Purple Moon Shoes (Toy)
I tried to explain, ignore the advertising on the box, but he was too excited. He is 6 years old and it was a sad moment when he tried to walk around lugging these big hard plasic shoes around. They are very large and hard to manage. They do have a bounce effect but not much fun if the boy just stands there. I would have liked them better if they had a softer/rubber bottom so his efforts wouldn't mare my wood floors. They are now in the closet, we'll try them again next year in hopes he can manage them better.

4.0 out of 5 stars They're OK, January 25, 2006
This review is from: Purple Moon Shoes (Toy)
My 11 yr old son got these Moon Shoes at Christmas and he plays with them a lot. He has ADHD and Sensory Integrative Dysfunction, and the bouncing really soothes him and gets him refocused. I don't think he ever expected to bounce very high; he seems to be happy enough with the bounce he gets. When he wants to play with them in the house, I send him downstairs to jump around on the concrete floor to save wear and tear on my hardwoods.

The downside for us has been that the bands have started snapping very frequently. At the rate he's going, he'll run out of bands long before he outgrows wanting to play with the toy. So if anyone hears of a way to get more bands, please speak up.
