4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Chewers!
I got these for my 2 new greyhounds that have taken a liking to eating my kids plastic toys. Every other chew toy that they liked (edible ones) they would destroy/eat within minutes. Any of the completely non-edible ones (like Nylabones) they lost interest in pretty quickly. These are the perfect balance! Two WEEKS later and my dogs are still enjoying them, with...

1.0 out of 5 stars broke into pieces
Not for a strong chewer - my dalmatian broke it into some small but also large pieces and nearly choked. Had to take it away.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Chewers!, August 16, 2007

I got these for my 2 new greyhounds that have taken a liking to eating my kids plastic toys. Every other chew toy that they liked (edible ones) they would destroy/eat within minutes. Any of the completely non-edible ones (like Nylabones) they lost interest in pretty quickly. These are the perfect balance! Two WEEKS later and my dogs are still enjoying them, with around HALF of the edible part still intact. The non-edible part doesn't break off so no choking hazard. It does come off in itty bitty slivers that are easily eaten and passed by the dogs (hey, better than the toy soldiers that ate and passed!).

This would've gotten 5 stars except that an ingredient in the edible part is wheat gluten which can be problematic for allergy prone dogs.

5.0 out of 5 stars The One Toy / Treat I Always Keep on Hand, May 28, 2008

Length:: 1:00 Mins

This is the one toy/treat I always keep on hand for my 9-month-old cockapoo. He gets most of the treat out the first day but keeps working at it for weeks. He almost always chooses these over any other toy.

4.0 out of 5 stars long lasting, August 11, 2009
By
Great chew toy for a 25lb aggressive chewer. My dog loves chew toys but they often don't take him long, and once they are small enough to swallow he just eats them. This toy is long lasting and kept him interested for quite a while. He did chew the plastic as well and probably ate some of it but it didn't seem to effect him in any way, much like a nylabone. The filling is hard and difficult for the dog to get to because of the little plastic bumps in the middle. Eventually it appeared to lose flavor and he lost interest...but not for a couple of weeks. Now he plays with it as a toy rather than chews on it but he seems to enjoy it all the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my Pug, May 1, 2009
My pug and I love this chew bone. He picks it up all of the time to chew but he does not become obsessed with it like he does with a rawhide. When he's chewing a rawhide, I have to watch him so closely, but this chew toy is indestructible for him and tasty. He's been chewing it for weeks and still loves it even though most of the "treat" is gone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a chew toy that lasts more than 5 minutes, February 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have 2 Schnoodles (2 yrs old) and 1 Boarder Collie (13 yrs old) and I have had a terrible time finding a chew toy to keep them busy for more than 10 minutes. My dogs usually chew every toy to shreds in a matter of minutes, even those that claim to last for days. I have returned so many toys to Petsmart because they are expensive and my dogs rip them to shreds immediately. So I am surprised to say that this toy has lasted 2 months. Yes, that's right, my dogs are STILL chewing this toy. The toy has been chewed down to about 30% of its original size, but they are still going at it. I am going to buy 3 more of these today.

5.0 out of 5 stars For intense chewers, October 9, 2008
This review is from: Hartz Chew N' Clean Assorted Colors Dental Duo Toy and Edible Dog Chew, Large (Misc.)
As the owner of the Center for Canines, I board dogs, breed cream European Golden Retrievers, and am a canine behaviorist. I deal with more than a few dogs whose oral habits of intense chewing can cause much destruction around the home. Although this behavior can come from initial boredom, the Hartz Dental Duo bones provides the ideal medium for a dog's intrinsic need to chew, and they last a very long time. They help to remove tarter and keep a dog's mouth in good condition. I really find them to be a helpful tool also for nervous dogs to practice displacement activity.

I highly recommend this product. Please throw away the bone when it eventually does become small enough for your dog to swallow, and replace it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good!, February 24, 2009

I recommend this toy, it's a good way to avoid that the puppies bite your furniture or your shoes!... The red part has favor and the dogs spend hours trying to eat all the bone. It's a good investment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Durable Enough for a Large Dog, December 15, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hartz Chew N' Clean Assorted Colors Dental Duo Toy and Edible Dog Chew, Large (Misc.)
My Irish Wolfhound puppy loved the taste of this Chew. However, after a few minutes he had chewed off chunks of the plastic. Cetainly not a safe thing for puppies to be eating.
