5.0 out of 5 stars It works.
The cat won't voluntarily eat this but it does work. I usually smear a bit on a paw or if I can get away with it a little bit on the roof of his mouth. I've offered him the tube, some on my finger, even on a napkin but nadda. Apparently he doesn't like salmon/malt flavor. It does work though and when I can get it in him he licks his chops like crazy. Unfortunately he gets...

This was the only hairball remedy for sale at the local Walmart, so after checking reviews here I decided to give it a try.

Pros: Slight reduction in hairballs (my long-haired cat went from coughing up a hairball about every other day to one every 3-4 days). But even using it daily, I haven't been able to completely get rid of them with this product (I also...

Unfortunately he gets huge hairballs every other month or so and I really don't want to step on one in the morning again so we'll keep using this. I just wish it came in chicken flavor or something. He likes chicken. I give it 10 out of 10 for working, 7/8 for ease of use and 3 for getting the cat to take it.

This was the only hairball remedy for sale at the local Walmart, so after checking reviews here I decided to give it a try.

Pros: Slight reduction in hairballs (my long-haired cat went from coughing up a hairball about every other day to one every 3-4 days). But even using it daily, I haven't been able to completely get rid of them with this product (I also brush her, bathe her frequently, etc)

Cons: My cat HATES this stuff. If I'm lucky, I can sneak up on her when she's napping and put a glob on her paw (its quite runny), but once she realizes what I've done, she'll jump up and run to hide for the rest of the night - usually flinging some of the gel all over my apartment. And if I'm not lucky, I have to pull her out from under the couch... not quite my idea of fun.

I'm going to keep looking, hopefully they'll like something else better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Puss loves it!, March 19, 2009
This review is from: Hartz Hairball Remedy Plus Paste for Cats and Kittens (Misc.)
My puss starts developing major hairballs every year in the Spring and this stuff really seems to help. Every couple of days I feed her a blob on my finger. Instead of barfing up the hairballs they seem to pass normally. I much prefer picking them out of the litter box to mopping them out of the Afghan rug. Also, puss goes absolutely nuts for this goo, probably because it contains fish oil. You'd swear it's crack cocaine for cats!

I have been giving this product to my other cat for 15 years now, so when I got a new kitten a few months ago I knew exactly what to get for him. Hartz has been 100% effective in both my cats at treating and preventing hairballs and they go absolutely nuts for the flavor.

4.0 out of 5 stars my cats love it so they don't let me forget giving it to them, October 31, 2010

My cats never let me forget and it seems to work well I do worry as the cats get older that they will get a blockage in their intestine so this is worth making a daily routine.

I used this product for several years with my long hair tabby. For him, if used daily, we managed to avoid almost all of his hairballs.

This product works like a charm. I had one cat and all he did was cough up hairballs on my carpet. Since I've used this. He hasn't coughed one hairball up and I've been using for a month now.

My cat had recently started to hack now and then so I thought I would give this stuff a try. You give the cat a 1 inch strip of it a day. Looks like brown toothpaste and my cat LOVES this stuff! Its almost like a treat for him and since I have started using it daily the hacking has decreased noticibly. As a side note these tubes dont come full as I looked at the ones at Walmart as well. They seem about half full at most.
