Safe, Works Well, Great Price,
This review is from: Hartz Ultra Guard Reflecting Flea and Tick Collar for Cats and Kittens (Misc.)
We live on a farm and have 8 cats. I've used Hartz Ultra Guard Reflecting Flea & Tick Collars on our cats for many years. They work well for the heavily wooded area we live in and zero of my cats have ever had any kind of bad reaction to the collars. And they are reasonably priced and last 7 months through the whole flea and tick season.

edit: My collar's said they were good for 7 months, not 5. Perhaps Amazon is using some old package covers for their photos here?
I have had flea problems in the past. I had tried a lot of things, but never could come up with a convenient cost effective solution. I put one of these on my cats last March, and it worked out real well, without any problems. I just ordered another set. They are supposed to last up to 7 months, but I recently found one flea on White Kitty, so I figure that the collars are nearing the final stage of their useful lives. I don't use these for my dogs, but my dogs take to a bath much better than do my cats. The collars really made my life easier, and that of my cats more pleasant. I will mention one more thing. I did not cut the excess off after fitting the collars. I figured, the more collar there is, the more protection. edit: I did order new ones for my cats, after 5 months. But I thought it being late August, if I could get by for 2 more months, avoiding fleas. I might not need to replace them until spring. I took them off, and stretched them out as you do when you first get them and a lot of white powder appeared covering the surface of the collars. I will see if I can make it to Winter with these.

Gave my cat a seizure.,

I bought this product from a local pet store. We were having flea issues and thought this might help, since our cat likes to go outside. About 3 hours after we put the collar on her, she lied down on the couch and didn't get back up for almost 20 hours. She became very aggressive and hostile toward our kittens (which she has never done)and would not allow anyone to touch her (which she is normally very cuddly). Finally, she had a seizure and we called the vet. He informed us that we needed to take the collar off (which we did) and within 5 minutes she was up and running around. I will never put a flea collar on her again. I spoke to a friend about the situation, and she had the same experience with her dogs with this brand!
