Product Description

Flea infestation of pets versus the environment

Hartz UltraGuard Plus Flea and Tick Collars kill fleas, flea eggs and ticks for up to seven months. Hartz Flea and Tick Collars are the most cost effective, complete protection against fleas and ticks -- which is probably why Hartz collars are the #1 best selling flea and tick protection product. Collars can be cut to fit your pet and still provide protection even after getting wet.

Fleas can lay up to 50 eggs a day, so it’s important to use a formula that breaks the flea life cycle. Hartz UltraGuard Plus products contains insect growth regulators (IGR) which kill flea eggs, larvae and pupae to keep fleas from coming back.

Dog collars can be used on puppies six weeks of age or older. Cat collars can be used on kittens 12 weeks of age or older. Be sure to always use dog products on dogs and cat products on cats; they cannot be used interchangeably.

Treating infested areas as soon as the problem is recognized is vital in stopping the flea life cycle.

It is almost as if the fleas love these collars.

We immediately removed the collar and found all the hair missing and ulcerated, oozing sores all the way around my cat's neck.

They did not care that my cat was sick or dying, nor did they care that their product was absolutely the cause.

I spent 2 hours and $250.00 at the emergency vet last night because of this cat flea collar. My cat wore this collar for approximately 2 weeks and last night my husband noticed that there was drainage from the cat's neck. We immediately removed the collar and found all the hair missing and ulcerated, oozing sores all the way around my cat's neck. He is also having pain with urination. The vet instructed us to wash the area with Dawn soap and rinse thoroughly. He gave him an antibiotic shot, pain medication and recommended we use a prescription topical flea/tick control medication instead of these collars. I will never buy a Hartz product again. Please do not apply these to your animals. Once I started researching online, thousands of animals have been adversely affected by these collars. I'm going to take my cat back to to the vet in the morning as he started vomiting and the vet warned that he could develop renal and liver failure. I hope we have a good ending to this nightmare.

After several days of wearing Hartz ultra guard all the fur around my cats neck had been burned off as well as the skin that was underneath the collar. Please do not buy this for the safety of your own cat.

This product caused my cat to become lethargic and ill. Additionally, there was extreme hair loss and oozing around the neck area. DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR PET TO BE POISONED.

We contacted Hartz customer service, customer care, and over five other numbers before they hung up on us multiple times. They were rude, disrespectful, and NO HELP AT ALL. They did not care that my cat was sick or dying, nor did they care that their product was absolutely the cause. You can attempt calling them, but they will not help you.

While speaking calmly, Anthony (From Customer Affairs - NOT the manager, even though we specifically asked for a manager) began yelling and questioning why we would want our attorneys to contact them. He then began asking how we could even afford an attorney, before hanging up without so much as helping our issue.

They say that only attorneys can contact their legal department, which is false, as customers must be able to contact them as well. They cite "company policy" while they do nothing to help. We are hoping, however, to form a class-action lawsuit. Please contact me at: mgodoy25@berkeley.edu if you had any issues regarding this product as well.

We are not going to stand for Hartz and their negligence. We repeat - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

This product ought to be pulled from the shelves!!!!!!! It almost killed my cat, who, after a flea-free life, wound up with fleas this past summer, and I purchased this product to help address that problem. Yes, yes, I simultaneously treated the house, with a pump spray, using all the precautions stated on the container. After 4 emergency room (animal hospital) visits, patient spoon feeding with strained baby food, rehydration, and a myriad other life-saving and bank account-depleting interventions, I've since learned about other cats who met with a similar fate and worse. How can this product continue to be sold? Name recognition and affordability, I suppose, but every vet with whom I've spoken since say the same thing. Hartz be gone! Other products- Frontline, Advantage, and Virbac Knockout spray - remedied the flea problem, and my cat ultimately recovered. Flea growth inhibitors, not poison! A tough lesson learned. Wish I could give this product negative stars, but the program won't allow.

Why does this stuff have to smell like a scented garbage bag? Half the people who walked thru my house had to sneeze. I cannot imagine what it is doing to the cats sensitive nose. Probably kills fleas but I am not waiting to find out what else it might do to my cat. Snip, snip, off it comes... shame on you Hartz... much too powerful a stink for a flea collar.

This collar basicly melted the hair off my cat's neck in under 24hours.

I took her to vet and she had a bad reaction to it.

looks like its on to finding about collar she can use.

This product doesn't even deserve stars. We have been battling fleas all summer & decided to pick up some of these collars after nothing else was helping. I had used them once before on the same car & had no problems... Idk if they changed something or not but my poor cat neck where the collar was is severely blistered and the hair burnt off. I just brushed him out 3 days ago & everything looked fine. I'm amazed at how quickly it did this. Do not buy this for the sake of your poor animals!!!

I had this on my cat for about three weeks and now he has fur missing around his neck. Under his chin he has some sores, I feel extremely bad for him. He definitely does not deserve what he is experiencing, and for the first time in 35 years I feel like a terrible pet owner. Absolutely, under no circumstances should this product be used. Hartz really should be ashamed of themselves, what an awful experience. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!
