5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book, December 20, 2009

I bought this book a few days after it came out and it's one of the best cooking book I own right now, for the following reasons :

It's easy to find the recipes, as the Index is clear and the book is well sorted.

The recipes are clear and easy to reproduce, I've never yet been hit by a "Wait, so the oven is supposed to go to...", which is common with a lot of books nowadays.

I'm not usually a 5 star person when I rate things, but this books fully delivers to its descriptions and impressions. Oh, and also, the recipes are delicious. I love the emphasis on the ingredients, makes for a perfect final dish IMO. There's also really good looking pictures, makes me want to cook every time I open it up. :)

I love it and would fully recommend to anyone looking for a cooking book for any purpose.

I was at the Epcot International food and wine fest when I caught the end of Keith's seminar, and chatted with him afterwards about cooking, and healthy living in Asheville NC and Boulder CO. What a nice guy - very genuine, like his cooking :). Anyway, I purchased his book immediately (from my iPhone on Amazon, saved $10!), and have already tried 3 of his recipes for Thanksgiving (well, OK, my mother did most of the work). They were absolutely delicious. The Butternut Squash soup was tremendous. The chipotle shrimp was also very tasty. Looking forward to trying more. Also love watching his podcasts on iTunes. Short quick videos on mostly simple recipes - all organic and healthy.

I wish it was a little easier to find things in the book (although the index is nice), and also the little icons that differentiate the seasons could be a little larger. But overall, its a beautiful book with great photos and a nice intro about seasonal cooking. I highly recommend this book, his podcast, and his show on PBS.

I love new recipes and this cookbook has provided several great meals. It is great to be able to make dishes look like the pictures in this book. Instructions are well written and easy to follow. You can make a fantastic meal that belongs in a pricy restaurant at home. The Mango Creme Brulee is a fantastic desert and is a family favorite. Recommend to anyone who likes to cook!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great recipes but missing a little something......, January 6, 2011

First let me say, I love the work Keith Snow is doing and the recipes are great! I found out about Snow on a podcast I listen to. The Survival Podcast. I love to try new things and the whole idea behind Harvest Eating really interest me. Eatting fresh locally grown foods, great idea! ;) The book does have some great photos of some of the foods, but I was hoping for more. There is a ton of blank space. It would be really nice to see the finished product (without having to go online) so I could know if im doing things right. Best part is how its layed out and the recipes to make your own stuff, (pancake mix, yogurt, ect.) Nice little extras like that.

Overall, I love having this book and wouldnt give it back.

The book is not only beautiful but there are solid and unique recipes. I'm thinking of joining his website for access to his recipe database.

I've been seeing my long time friends more often....hmm I wonder why?

I love the lemon-thyme vinaigrette...ah it's so good that I have to make double batches to keep it in the fridge.

The photographs and printing are very high quality, and the recipes are straightforward and tasty. You don't have to become religious about local/raw/hippie food to enjoy this, it is very practical and common-sense.

5.0 out of 5 stars my favorite cookbook, January 12, 2010

I stumbled upon Chef Keith Snow on U-tube one day when researching the internet for some recipe that I was making. He had several great dishes that he prepared with organic and fresh ingredients and best of all he presented them so that they were quick and easy to prepare. I subscribed to his web site after that and was never disappointed. When his cookbook came out I was excited to have his (and my) favorites all in one book. I would say that he combined healthy eating with a gourmet twist so that you definitely feel like you are eating in a fancy restaurant. I have tried over half of the meals in his book and love them all. His use of fresh herbs really makes these dishes special.

We gave a number of copies of this cookbook to friends for Christmas. Several of the recipients have called to say they read the entire book before putting it down. Some spoke of satisfaction with recipes they had already tried and plan to try additional recipes.

The book is easily readable, understandable and is intended to provide not only delicious food, also healthy food. I have had the privilege of dining with Chef Snow and can speak directly of his culinary prowess and the joy of eating his delicious dishes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Cookbook Using Common Sense!!, April 27, 2010

This review is from: The Harvest Eating Cookbook: More than 200 Recipes for Cooking with Seasonal Local Ingredients (Hardcover)
I am across Keith Snow via a YouTube video. I watched, I liked and then I seen the NEW cookbook and knew I HAD to order this!!! It's common sense to use what is in season for various and obvious reasons! I was thrilled to see this applied in his book. It is laid out SO well and the photography is incredible!!!!! WARNING: You will drool at times!

His recipes are easy to follow and you can alter them (for example omit the meat, use the soy or rice alternative instead of the dairy, etc.). Up to you! Focus on the on all the fresh and healthy vegetables he uses and do what you can for yourself and family to eat better---this is a MUST HAVE cookbook for everyone!!!

Well thought out, put together in a clever yet simple way! Kudos Keith!
