Unique game with a lot of depth, January 25, 2000

Harvest Moon GBC is one of those games that comes around very rarely---well, almost never. You won't see any mortal kombat, explosions, or automatic weapons. What you will discover, however, is a unique game that has quite a bit of depth. What other game allows you to operate a farm? You begin the game with the task of turning a forgotten farm into a money-maker. This is no small chore, as the fields are overrun with brush and rocks that you have to clear out. How else will you be able to plant vegetables and grass? Your vegetable crops are a primary source of income, and, once you plant enough grass, you can buy livestock. While farming is the obvious focus of the game, there are some other interesting facets in Harvest Moon. Social events occur every so often, such as a picnic and a Xmas party. Also, you pick a pet (cat or dog) to keep you company during your days. Harvest Moon is definitely a game worth buying. You will find yourself pondering ways to make your harvest more profitable while you aren't even playing. Make sure you pick up some extra batteries, though. You will probably need them with this one.

A Good Game Overall, June 15, 2000

To some, Harvest Moon may seem repetitive. You wake up in the morning, take your cat/dog outside, run to the tool shed, grab your water can (at least in the early stages), run up to your sprouts, and press 'A' to water them. Every single day. This is the type of game Harvest Moon is. Your entire day is consisted of doing chores. Feeding animals, watering vegetables. Some of you may be thinking "Uhh..and this is a GAME?" It's a lot funner then you'd think. When I first started the game, I was completely confused. You have an entire farm that you're supposed to manage. I had NO idea what to do first-what type of vegetables to plant, where to plant them, etc. The instruction booklet gives some hints, but something to walk you through your first day would have been nice. Harvest Moon is a big game, but one that is intricate, rather then huge. Every single thing you do can make the difference between a prosperous farm, or a dilapidated shack. You might accidently plant the grass where you should have planted the turnips. You might accidently whack a gnome on the head with a hammer. And this is what makes it such a fun game. There are so many things you COULD do, but only if you take the time to do them. Hmmm.. To conclude, I have to say Harvest Moon is a fun game. I give it four starts because, at times, it does get rather repetitive. But really, you don't even notice it. It's just part of the game. You race to get your broccli watered so that you can pick your turnips in time for the collector to get them. See? You're thinking like a farmer already.

I've played the SNES version of this game and just recently bought the Gameboy Color version. I highly recommend both but the GBC is suprisingly good despite it having less things to do than the other versions. The premise of the game seems simple but working the farm is no picnic. Soon you get so involved in the game that it becomes a serious addiction. Luckily the GBC version only allows you to have four chicken and cows unlike the SNES where you can have 12! Talk about time consuming. Interaction with the characters would have been nice but the game makes up for it with nice closeup graphics of all the girls and men in the various locations in the town. There are more secrets to find in the... well, you'll see when you get it. Overall you'll have great fun. There are no complicated moves to make but little kids may have a hard time figuring out the game. It's best for pre-teens and teenagers, even adults! I highly recommend it if you can't find the original SNES version (discontinued) or the N64 version, or just need something to take with you on the go.

A outstanding game but not quite up to the SNES standard., November 22, 1999

This game is loads of fun and allows for hours of enjoyment of creative thinking and budgeting to be succesful. First things first this game I wouldn't reccomend for littler children because it can be frusterating when you make mistakes that can't be fixed. I liked how you could keep playing after two years but you can't pick up a bride or have a baby in this game which was one of the fondest memories I have of the SNES game and you can't explore the moutains either because they were taken out. You can however still breed cows and chickens but not as much. Another good point of this game is that it is game link compatible which allows you to trade seeds and livestock with friends. This is a great buy for someone who is not easily frusterated but you may want to opt for the new N64 version(I have not played this yet) or the SNES one.

one of the best!!!!, January 3, 2002
This review is from: Harvest Moon (Game Cartridge)
I went on a trip to Florida about a year and a half ago and bought this at a used video game shop. This game was so fun I could not put it down! I even sat inside the condo all day and played this while everyone else was at the beach! You can choose to be a boy or girl and you keep a farm. Each season there are new crops to plant and you can also have cows and chickens which also help youmake a prophit. Thsi game deserves 100 stars as this is one of the best games I have ever bought for GBC next to Pokemon! :)

I wish I can give this game more than 5 star. I have many gameboy color games, and this is my favorite. I like these action games, and I thought I wasn't going to like this game. But believe me, I got hooked! It is lots of fun raising animals and plants and basically raising a farm. Wow, this game is in the top 5 of my favorite games on ANY system. Buy, Buy ,Buy this game as fast as you can, GREATEST GAME!

The game lets you walk almost were ever you want to and you can raise crops as well as animals. Getting married is also an aspect of the game. I love this game so much I even bought it for N64 and I can't wait until it comes in because you can do even more. My son loves the game to and we both talk about it over dinner even though no one else knows what were talking about.

This game is lots of fun. It's challenging and there's no killing which is a nice change from most games. I already used three sets of battries on it and I only got it a couple of days ago. My favorite part is raising livestock. Sometimes it seems like the days pass too quickly when you have a lot to do in the beginning but later on before you can buy animals the days seem to pass really slow. I recommend this game to anyone; I think it's loads of fun.

This game was so much fun that I could't take eyes away from it. Raising animals is some work but its definetly worth it! My favorite was planting crops of all different sorts. If you like this game you'll like Harvest Moon 64 even more but I recomend you start this one first.
