A Wonderful Improvement,
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Harvest Moon Magical Melody (Video Game)
If you have played Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, you'll find that Harvest Moon: Magical Melody is immensely better. While the graphics may not be "realistic," the "cutesy" graphics are a part of Harvest Moon's legacy, and fit the mood of the game. There is plenty to do in the game to keep you from getting bored. You can farm, fish, mine for jewels and other things, go to a variety of festivals, become friends with other villagers, and much more! You now have a rival, which for all you competitive people like myself, will give you just another reason to keep playing. The layout of the town and controls have a slightly different feel than previous Harvest Moon games. At first it might seem like the town is too big or the controls are a bit tricky, but it's easy to quickly figure out where everything is in the town and the controls really aren't that complicated. Overall, HM: Magical Melody makes up for a lot that was missing in HM: A Wonderful Life, and offers great things new and old to the Harvest Moon series.

The best Harvest Moon yet,
A Kid's Review

Hi, I'm 16 years old, and I have recently purchased Harvest Moon: Magical Melody. I am not dissapointed! The graphics are cute and fun, and all the characters have their own voice. Ray sounds a lot like Tarzan, it's so amusing. There is A LOT of stuff to buy, so money here is very important. Stamina plays a great role in this game, so it is important to upgrade your tools so as not to tire out easily. You can play as a boy or a girl in this game, and for each gender there are 11 possible people whom you can marry. If you marry Jamie, however, the game will end, and go back to the last point you saved. Jamie is your rival, and makes the game 10 times more interesting. Mining has been improved, and now there are mini games to play. Also, the point of the whole game is to collect musical notes to revive the harvest goddess. These notes are fun to collect. I play as the girl, and every time a notw is recieved she says "lucky!". It's just so cute! The animals are adorable, fishing is fun...Just everything has been improved in this game. There is lag sometimes, but it's never a problem. And yes, there is a lack of cutscenes, but come on. If they made this game perfect, no one would want to buy the next harvest moon. Overall, you will not be dissapointed with this game.

When I rented this game, I knew it would be fun, and it was, but, it was really hard. It is definitly the hardest Harvest Moon game and probably the funnest once you get to understand it. That's the tricky part, getting used to the game.
PROS 1. It's fun 2. You can get married 3. You do have a kid 4. The graphics are cool 5. The town is bigger and better than other Harvest Moon games 6. All of your animals can reproduce 7. There are contests and festivles 8. If you are lucky, you get a kiss from your beloved in the winter CONS 1. Really hard 2. Your character walks really slow 3. Long cut-scene at the beginning 4. Takes a while to get used to 5. Confusing 6. Items are a lot more expensive 7. You have to have 8 to 10 hearts to marry someone I just listed some, but if you like to be challanged, buy this game, if you like easy games, you might not like this game.

Harvest Moon: Magical Game,
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

This game is the next big Harvest Moon game. Its new features and its pros are:
You can now play as a boy or a girl in one game disc. It has been annoying for Harvest Moon fans to have to buy one boy's version and one girl's version. Appropriate for all ages. It is a wonderful game for families to share. Teaches life skills. It teaches responsibility through spending you money wisely and other things. An enhancement of marriage choices. Now a whopping 10 with one extra secret choice. It has a nice storyline. It stays fairly true to the series. You do not have to be a long time Harvest Moon fan to understand this game. You can do multiple things in one day. To name a few I'll mention fish, plant crops, go mining, and socialize with other villagers. You now have a rival to compete against for your farming accomplishments and other categories. The pause screen keeps track of all your fellow villagers affections for you. Festivals where you can just have fun. Multiple pieces of land that you can buy. You can have multiple barns and chicken coops. Now for the very few cons: Some might think the graphics to be cutesy. It gets tiring to hear the villagers say the same thing over and over, only to change when you raise their heart level for you or at festivals. There might be a few more but at the moment I can't think of any. In closing, this game is fun for all ages. But if you only like fighting games, this game is not for you. -Keaton

The Best HM GAME!!!,
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Harvest Moon Magical Melody (Video Game)
I've had over 4 games of HM and I love all of them! But this is a totally new version to it, more people to marry, girl or boy, and very cute graphics! It's sooo chibi!! You now get to build your life by choosing which location you want to live in, your birthday season(not the date sadly) and gender. You can get a pig if you buy a barn, but you first get a puppy! It's a very good game if you like RPG stuff. And it's not disgusting to get married, nothing really bad happens, anyways I've fallen in love with the game and today I played for 3 HOURS! My brother said to get off but you can't, it's just too fun! So buy the game, you even get a child. But you'll have to play for yourself! Take my word for it! (NOTE:you gotta buy a lot of stuff in the game a challenge) Also, you get a rival that is the opposite sex of you. You can marry your rival, Jamie, but the game will end. The point of the game is to save the Harvest Goddess from being stone, to save her you must get notes, you get notes for doing a special thing, attending festivals is one way, every time you get another 5 notes go to the spring(harvest lake) to get an instrument, when you create a symphony, you free her! But the game doesnt' end, get married, when you have at least 8 hearts from wooing that special someone, you have to get the level 3 house and big bed, then the mayor will tell you to climb a cliff and get the feather to propose(i know a feather is weird but...)so do it and the next day you get married. so buy this game right now! you'll have loads of fun! getting to be a farmer is a blast! you just gotta plant, raise livestock, and get married to have fun!

The best Harvest Moon game I've ever played,

I admit the game has a few things I have issues with such as the fact that you don't have enough time to tend to a big farm. I really love this game it is second only to Harvest Moon 64! This game has lovely music and more marriage prospects not to mention the fact that you have festivals which were almost non-existant in the Harvest Moon A Wonderful LIfe series. Another plus is the fact that your farmer can be male or female( I've always wanted to play a harvest moon character whose gender is the same as mine). I love the fact that you can cook in this game. I even love the fact that the name prompt is long enough to fill even my long name in the name slot. I've noticed in Harvest Moon Another Wonderful Life that the name prompt is too short. It's not a perfect harvest moon title but it's pretty darn close!

Despite this game being hailed as the greatest in the series to date, Magical Melody has its share of problems.
But first, the pros: - addictive (if you can bear not leaving the house for a few weeks, then this game offers everything you need) - goal-driven (much better in this area than previous HM titles, you will find yourself constantly saving up for the next house upgrade, furniture installment, musical note, or friendly barn animal) - festivals (there's more of them, but... more on that later) - mini-games (at last, we can take a more interactive part in races!) - fun (it just plain is) cons: - framerate?? (how can a game this graphically simple have lagging issues? if GC titles like RE4 and PoP can pull off their stunning visuals without much choppiness, than MM should be capable of the same) - lack of cutscenes (I really missed heart events, and the random, cute but very weird scenes between villagers present in almost every other HM title) - controls (certainly not as bad as some, picking up things can be more trouble than its worth, and the camera angles can be difficult, despite the nice transparency of objects in the foreground) - festivals (some are done really well, like the horse races when you can actually race, but most feel like obligatory breaks from your average day that get old about the second time through. I would have liked to have seen a mini game for nearly every festival, and I certainly miss dancing) other thoughts: I would have liked to have seen more variation in conversations with townspeople instead of the cheap, 'I'll keep saying the same things over and over again until you finally bribe me with expensive gifts' ploy. I was hoping for a ton of cutscenes, even random and stupid ones. They would have broken up the monotony. The framerate issues near Jamie and Blue Sky Ranch are pretty much not cool at all. In the end, this is a fun game and I will reccomend it, but I guess I see a lot more to improve upon before this game is declared best in the series... in my opinion that accolade still rests with the 64 verison (or maybe its spinoff on the playstation).

I really like this Harvest Moon. it's different from the one for nintendo 64, but i think its just as good. the good part about this version is you get to choose to be a boy or a girl. also you have to collect notes to free the harvest godess, and you get notes for like.... some festivals or if you put out a camp fire; stuff like that. i also like how u can give a person that you like presents and they start to like you. there is a button you press to pull up and sceen that shows all of the people in town that you know. beside them are hearts and the more hearts they have beside them, the more they like you. I don't want to give the whole game away, but it's really fun!:)

I was with my friend when she bought this game. I thought it looked dumb but she insisted it looked good. So we brought it home and we used her gamecube to play. At first I hated the dramatic Harvest Goddess, but after it was over it got really fun! You start out with a dog who needs a home and you can name it anything you want. We named our dog Buttercup, then we found out it was a boy. The Festivals are kind of boring after you go through them for a couple of years.
On our 2nd Year we got one Good chicken egg ~Tip~ If you buy a coop and Chicken egg put the egg in the encubator and you get a baby Chicken. On our third year we Married Ray. One month later we found out we were pregnant. Two mothes later was had a baby. ~Warning~ They do not say if it is a Boy or Girl! I think this was one of the best games I've ever played. My friend, Emily, had AWL and she let me play. It was slow and the people around her ALWAYS said the same thing. After I played MM I bought my own Gamecube and MM myself. I'm in year three and I have 2 cows, 1 sheep, 1 horse, and 5 chickens. The other game where I was married to ay We have 4 horses, 2 cows, and 2 sheep. If you read this, BUY MAGICAL MELODY! You won't be upset. P.S. If you hate little cartoons, this is not the game for you.

This is the best harvest moon ever! I like how you can pick where you want to live, and it's so cool how you can buy property and what's realy nice about this one is how you have to buy your chicken coop and your barn and some of your furniture. I also like the mini games that you can play with four people. This is a very fun game!!
