Book Description

With the death of her no-account husband, Polly is the sole owner of a farm steading on the planet Celstar. She is determined to hold the steading and make a life for herself and two Synth children in her care. Her nearest neighbor, widower Fallon Verdad, is the big landowner in the territory and also her local Councilman. Like most of the other settlers, Fallon is a Shimmer, a horse shifter, while Polly is human—well, mostly human. Their attraction to each other is electric and hard to deny. An affair would lead to scandal in this conservative community. Scandal is the last thing Polly needs.
Sci-fi space western romance, futuristic, short story.

2.0 out of 5 stars Completely unedited ebook October 19, 2013

I won't say there is actually anything wrong with the plot or characters, but it's the total lack of editing that kills this story. The author obviously didn't even use spell check, and I am not referring to words that may be spelled differently from one dialect to another. These are typing and spacing errors that could have been caught if the author simply reread her own work before publishing it. Even better, if they had somebody else read it. There are words left out entirely. Things like "tongue rushinged to her" and "nuzzle down her neck, making tingle, making her knees weak."

What the !@#$ is that? In an estimated 30 pages, there are at least that many errors. And this is the problem. Publishing via Amazon isn't a way to get beta readers. That kinda thing needs to happen pre-publishing. Whether the ebook is free or not, readers deserve a completed piece of work.

As for the story itself, it doesn't feel complete. There is no conflict or anything, just a story of how two people met and decided to bang. *shrug* Definitely worth what I paid for it: $0.00.

2.0 out of 5 stars Well written, VERY short story. October 27, 2013

The characters and world-building pull you in.
But I wish it had been longer, because it finished in an unsatisfactorily incomplete way.
I've rated it only 2 stars because I won't want to read it again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice April 10, 2014

It was wonderfully written, but the end has too much of an open ending for my taste. I just wanted to know what happens with Polly and Fallon.
All in all, it was wonderful.

For a short story she built a world with shape shivers, humans and genetically engineered "people". Would like to read more of this story.

Super short. It was just getting good then...the end. For all the 'honor' the H was said to have the ending didn't quite match up.
