5.0 out of 5 stars A refreshing book, June 2, 2002
I was so pleased to read a book that emphasizes practical, holy living as God intended us to live. So many Christian books written today put great emphasis upon the gifts of the Spirit, but very little upon the fruits of the Spirit. Jonathan Niemeyer has done a superb job in correlating and integrating the truths of God's Word into practical settings for family living, as well as for other relationships. The book is concise and easily read. The message is one we all need to hear and to heed. Everyone needs to read this book. The message it contains has long been overdue for the times in which we live in today.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN INSPIRATIONAL TREASURE, May 9, 2002
By
This review is from: Harvesting Spiritual Fruit: Following God's Path to True Love, Joy and Peace (Paperback)
Reading "Harvesting Spiritual Fruit" is a vibrant and uplifting experience. Inspirationally written, it blends spiritual wisdom with life experience in an easy to read style. As one reads, it inspires the reader to look at themselves as they are and how they can enrich their life and those around them. In essence, it is motivational; leading to greater fulfillment and joy in life.

It is spiritual and biblical, but in a `real world' manner; rather than pithy sermonizing. It is a book to be read, internalized, and reviewed periodically to keep a person `on track'. It is uplifting in it's content and inspires hope and a positive belief in that which it presents. It is a book from which every reader will benefit if they put the message into practice. I would give it six stars if I could!

I finished the book last night, and LOVED it! I am sure I will read again, positive that I missed something. Normally when I read, I have a hard time understanding, plus it's hard to put into everyday life, especially when it come to GOD! This is easily understood and you can apply daily. I will be informing people in my life about this book.

Harvesting Spiritual Fruit is a direct path to God's true Love and Happiness. Todays society often emphasizes excess, materialism, anger and hatred. It can all too often lead us down a path away from God's word and leave a void in our lives. In 'Harvesting Spiritual Fruit', Jon Niemeyer provides the fruit to fill that void. This book captures the spirit of true happiness. A great 'read' for anyone seeking to focus on true happiness and what truly is important in one's life!

Mr. Niemeyer is a bonafied writer of the first order! His take on God's plan for all of us is stirring but I find that his descriptive passages tend to steal the thunder. His next undertaking should be "fiction".

This book will really speak to you whether a you are a husband, wife, parent, son or daughter. I don't know of anyone who could not gain personal strength and direction from reading and incorporating the topics which this book addresses! If we could all only strive to harvest all of the fruit of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control - in our daily lives, oh what a world this would be! This book will challenge you and make you stop and consider many of life's lessons. This book is based squarely on scripture but the author uses God's word in a way that applies to 'real' life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great things come in small packages. . ., July 29, 2003

I don't know what book Mr. Nyman was reading, or what kind of mood he was in when reading it, but he seems, for a Christian, eager to cast the first stone. Mr. Niemeyer's short book IS emotional, IS patriotic, and IS timely. 9/11 changed the lens through which we perceive the world. This book was published just 6 months after 9/11 and its message still rings true. No literary work is interesting without an emotional connection. Mr. Niemeyer's discussion of his father shapes his words, and gives color to his message of love and hope.

With regard to patriotism and Christianity, Mr. Niemeyer rightly recognizes that this nation was founded on Christian principles. Mr. Nyman posits that to found a nation on Christian principles is to found a fascist state. At this point in reading Nyman's review I began to question his sanity, or at least his motives. Regardless, I believe the U.S. is far from a fascist state. I dare say 99% of Americans and even most of the world would agree.

The bottom line is that this is a fabulous short read for "baby Christians" and long time Christians. This isn't C.S. Lewis, of course, but the scripture is sound, the examples timely and interesting, and the author apparently sincere. Kudos to Niemeyer for wearing his heart on his sleeve for Christ. Shame on Mr. Nyman for seemingly having a vendetta that is very un-Christlike vs. this wonderful and hopeful book.
