Editorial Reviews

Review

"A playful, sincere, and encouraging guide to mining the past for revealing patterns. An inspiring book for anyone eager to reap what they've sown and harvest the wisdom they've gained through the years." -- Jan Phillips, author of Marry Your Muse: Making a Lasting Commitment to Your Creativity

An inspiring book for anyone eager to reap what they've sown and harvest the wisdom they've gained through the years. -- Jan Phillips, author of Marry Your Muse

Finally I have something to offer when my students ask me, 'What do I do with all these volumes?' -- Christina Baldwin, author of Life's Companion

For those who regularly write personal journals, the concept of going through all those dusty notebooks can be an invitation to self-discovery. Rosalie Deer Heart and Alison Strickland have been long time friends and colleagues who, during a poolside conversation, decided to explore their recorded pasts. Harvesting Your Journals provides an unprecedented guide to reviewing the map of your life as recorded by you. The authors' perspective is to view your journals as a place you have regularly planted seeds. Which ideas have blossomed? Who was I before, and who am I now? Which of my struggles and hopes remain the same and which have I outgrown? The process of harvesting what we have sown is an important step towards true understanding of ourselves. We can write and journal for years without considering the benefits of using what we have learned from the process. Harvesting Your Journals guides us into the fields of our own thoughts. Specific, creative techniques! ! are shared to promote reflection on what has been gathered. Harvesting Your Journals is the right tool for "gathering in" the fruits of your life journey. -- Concepts in Human Development

As a Literary Consultant I constantly look for inspirational texts to pass on to my clients so that they may improve their writings and journals. HARVESTING YOUR JOURNALS is a valuable tool for any writer, experienced or just starting out, male or female. I attended Alison Strickland's workshop at Skidmore College this year, held by The International Women's Writing Guild in August. Her methods are delightful and calming, bringing forth a new way of taking journaling to new heights. HARVESTING YOUR JOURNALS is a winner! I am looking forward to a sequel of this inspiring book.
