Nobody saw William's first step. He took it right off the front stoop and tumbled into the grass. As William learns to walk, he causes the members of his family to ask one another, perhaps once a day, "Where is William?" Luckily, this highly unsupervised child finds his way to ponds that are only ankle deep, and into department store window displays instead of the hands of unseemly strangers.
