The product is basically a set of flash cards for spelling, with some letter cubes for the kids to spell out the words. The rules propose two games, which are basically see if the kids spells the word right, they get to keep the card if they do, first kid with 5 cards wins. Adults can pretend to play along if the child is younger and will "fall for it." It really works as a game only if there are two kids the same age playing.
I don't know, but I can't see my daughter pulling this out when a friend comes over. Therefore, to the extent this is a set of flash cards for spelling, its kind of expensive for what it is.
Don't get me wrong, you can definitely make it into a learning tool. Your call.
I recommend this toy for very bright children. My child is bored with a lot of toys, but keeps coming back to this one.
This is so important to preschoolers and those on the verge of reading. Once you get the game and see it, you'll find various ways the game pieces can be used to help your child at whatever prereading level he or she is on.
One of the most underestimated games for this age.
That's it. That's the "game".
It gets tedious fast. You're much better off to buy yourself a Scrabble game where you have the letters seperated in front of you and make your own word cards and let the kids do the same thing (therefore eleminating the headache and eyestrain of flipping eight dice over and over each time you try to spell out a word); Scrabble accomplishes this perfectly, and when they are 7 and 8 you've got the Scrabble game to play. I returned Boggle Jr immediately. I was mostly disapointed not because it was too basic for my 4 and 5.5 year old, but because it's sold as a 'game' and there is no element of a game within it. No time restraints, no taking turns - and it's not designed for two players no matter what the directions attempt to suggest - it gets boring in a surprisingly short amount of time. I felt I was mislead by the packaging.
Definately skip Boggle Jr and get yourself Scrabble board.

This is for 3-6 year olds. A great game for the young children learning to spell basic words, but not for more advanced kids. Regular Boggle is better for teaching and fun.Published 20 days ago by Dave
Bad game. Not enough tiles. How will a child understand that you might have to swap rule out for a different one besides there's not enough letters to go aroundPublished 1 month ago by M.Tribe
