Got this for my 4 year old nephew...he loved it. The play is simple, he was able to make all kinds of buildings and shapes, plus he wasn't frustrated by trying to match the picture on the box, like he is with many Lego items.
He really loved the rotating table, it was a lot of fun to set the pieces and watch them twir around. Overall, a great basic toy!

We bought these for my 2 year old son, and thought that my 4 yr old son would enjoy them also. Although they both loved the Clipo play table with the spinning "gears", they had a lot of trouble interlocking the "blocks", as did my husband and his parents! When you could get them to work, you could build some pretty imaginative things, but we all found them too frustrating. My kids ended up constantly asking for help with these, and couldn't really play with them alone. So, we have decided to return them.
I thought they would be a nice alternative to bristle blocks, but that's what we've decided to buy instead.

This is a neat concept and my kids like it. The only downfall is the two snapping table parts come off too easy. The tabs need to be longer so they would stay in place and not pop off so easily. It's nice that the Clipo pieces are rounded so no sharp edges to worry about.

I'm not sure why people think clipos are difficult to build with? My daughter got these for a her 3rd birthday and she wants to play with them all of the time. We are both very creative so I have just as much fun playing them as she does. Clipo toys help children develop their motor skills and enhance creative play. If your child enjoys pretend play and building then he/she will most likely enjoy the clipos.

This was a complete waste of money, it is very hard to put the blocks together and get them to stay in place. I can hardly do it much less my almost 2 year old. I am very dissapointed in this product!

This is my first ever review on Amazon. I am compelled to write and hope that this review will help others contemplating the purchase of this toy.
My three-year-old son, who is really into this genre of toys, was really looking forward to receiving this toy for Christmas after he saw an ad for it on TV. Upon opening the toy, he was delighted with the colorful shapes and proceeded to attempt to build some structures on the rotating circles. But his initial excitement soon evaporated when he encountered repeated difficulties assembling the pieces properly, due to the specific and nonintuitive orientation required to interlock the pieces. The much anticipated toy ended up causing our normally placid and patient son to repeatedly shout out in exasperation and frustration, "I DON'T LIKE CLIPOS!" Needless to say, we've put aside the toy except when one of us can be nearby to help "supervise." (And we can attest to the fact that the pieces are very difficult to assemble properly.) If this product had been "kid tested" it would have been very obvious to the manufacturer that the design of the blocks is flawed and the target age group (18 months and up) is completely off-base. What a disappointment for a toy to cause an eager child to be frustrated and upset rather than engaged and happy! Of course, your mileage may vary.

My 3 year old wanted this for Christmas after seeing the commercial on Nickelodoen again and again. Although it's for 18 months and up, my 3 year old really likes it. I like that you can store the parts inside the table. The pieces are easy to connect. It's nice beacuse my 6 month old can safely play along with her big sister since all the parts are pretty big. No choking hazards. Glad we bought it.

I read reviews on this product after buying it, and wondered if I had made a mistake. Some being critical of the difficulty level for the age group it is marketed for. But, my 2 year old daughter loves it, and she hasn't stopped playing with it since she opened it for Christmas! She has had no problems manipulating the pieces at all. Putting the table together was a tad difficult, but a little elbow grease, and it popped right into place! All in all, I am very satisfied with this item, as well as the extras you can buy to add to it. This toy will be a staple to both of my childrens playtime!

We bought this for our soon to be 3 year old son. But our 16 month old daughter has played with it more than he has! It is a great building toy and has a good way to store the blocks. The only thing that I can say negative is the pieces are a little hard to get to fit together. They should be easier for the age they have listed on the box. I would purchase more though especially the vehicle set.

This was one of those toy purchases that I thought was going to be great, but wound up being a big disappointment. They looked great in the store and I really thought my son would enjoy playing with them. I liked the idea of the spinning gears and the shape sorter combined with the building toy. Unfortunately, we found that they were extremely difficult to put together. It seems like the pegs only interlock one way and you have to keep flipping pieces over to get them to fit. Even as an adult, I couldn't get them to do what I wanted them to do. My son tried them out a few times and then gave up on them, other than dumping all the pieces on the floor. I put them up for a while, thinking that he might just be too young for them, but even after I got them back down he still wasn't interested in them. I finally took them to a consignment store, hoping someone else would have better luck. If you're looking for this type of toy, just get a good set of bristle blocks. Same principle, cheaper, and infinitely more fun. |
