This game is great. You build words with 2-sided letter tiles, so 5 tiles equals 10 letter options. Tiles link together very easily and securely, so you don't need a gameboard. Very portable and great for travel. The tiles also stack atop one another, like UPWORDS (which I've always loved) - so you can change LATE to CATERS by stacking the C (on the L) and adding the R and S at the end. Scoring is only at the end of the game, so there's no slowdown (for scoring) during the game. No during-game scoring also makes for portability, since you don't have to carry a pencil and paper. Each player has a different color of tiles, and the player whose tile is atop a letter stack scores that stack at the end. Nice. No gameboard + no pencil/paper scoring = major portability. And each player gets the same letter mix, so there's no whining about lousy letters. Like UPWORDS, tile stacks are limited to 5 tiles high, so things get strategic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fantastic! December 7, 2010

When I opened the box of Nab-It I didn't know what to expect. Right on the box you can read "From the makers of Scrabble". That means a lot and honestly I wasn't sure if they could create another fun game about words.

Part puzzle, part word game, this fun and challenging game will help you expand your vocabulary. And coming from an homeschooler this means a lot. I find this game to be an interesting investment for homeschooling families. Not only your kids will play with words but the whole family can have fun together doing so!

I was immediately impressed with the quality of the bags and the tiles included in the box. You can chose to link the letters or stack them to "steal" someone else word.

To start the game it is a little bit like Scrabble and you need to pick 5 letters from your bag. Each bag has its own set of letters in the same color. You create words and you collect points by nabbing the words of your opponents. You are even allowed to exchange tiles... A dictionary can be used if someone challenge your word. However, some words are illegal like words that are always capitalized, words that use an hyphen or apostrophe, abbreviations and symbols, prefixes and suffixes that cannot stand alone, and foreign words that don't appear in the dictionary.

I am surprised at the game. I think it will become quite popular when the lovers of Scrabble discover it. It could be an easy game to bring along on vacation as well. You just have to be careful not to loose any tiles...

Honestly, I give my two thumbs up for Nab-It! I suspect fun time with my kids playing with this. I also know that my brother-in-law and his wife would love to discover this game since they are into word games.

You can get Nab-It! at any toy store. Look for the orange box in the board game section!

4.0 out of 5 stars Scrabble Fans Enjoy! December 23, 2010

In a game very similar to Scrabble Up Words, you create words with tiles, stack some of your tiles on top of the other players' tiles to steal words, change more letters, and steal words again. It is a little more challenging than you would first think, with a little less dependence on your own vocabulary and more on luck with what others place on the board. You can't go wrong with this if you like work games, but it is nothing earth shattering in it's creativity either. I will say that the way the tiles clip together is really great, it makes the game easier to store than something with a board like regular Scrabble, but it stays together well during game play, and is as it states, able to be rotated to face the current player without a board. The colored tiles store nicely in their matching velvet colored pouches. I found it to be an easy, sensible addition to our game collection, and the quality is very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging yet easy and fun
All ages enjoy it. Even those that don't particularly like Scrabble like it! It's different enough from Scrabble that it interests those not as 'talented' with words.
