My mom got this for my son's 4th birthday. He wanted to open the box and play with it as soon as he unwrapped it! Since he opened it at a party, I told him we would play with it the following day. The first thing he said when he woke up the following day was "Let's play Doggy Dr." He loves it. We play with it together and I find it is a good conversation starter about going to the doctor, the importance of taking medicine when you are sick, keeping healthy, etc. We talk about how people and pets may feel when they are sick, how we may need to see a dr to get better. We also talk about taking care of our pets to prevent illness. All of this while we check the dog's tongue, listen to his heart, give him a bandage, and so on. So, this is much more than just a simple toy. It provides an opportunity to talk with your child, teach him/her about what doctors do, how they can help us (and doggies), alleviate fears of seeing a dr, taking medicine, etc.
The problems I have with this toy: (1) the min. age listed is 3. At 4, my son has a hard time pushing the play doh through the syringe and pushing the dog's head down to extrude the tongue and ear wax. (2) As with other play doh toys and tools, after we are finished, I have to dig play doh out from the crevices--in this case, the dog's head and ear.

My son has been wanting this item for quite a while. I read the previous review and contemplated whether or not to buy it. But I decided to give it a try. My 3 year old son and 6 year old daughter have loved it. They have made bandaids and killed germs, given the puppy shots and squeezed out numerous tongues. All your child needs is a little imagination, and they will have a blast. It encourages creativity and imagination, and it is very durable as well as easy to clean up. My son already said he wants Santa to bring him another one for Christmas.

My 2.5 year old is just getting into the Play Doh experience, so I bought her this dog, and I was very dissapointed. In my eyes there is only one cool thing about it. If you put play doh in the dogs head the tongue comes out. It is pretty boring and there is not a whole lot to do with the toy. I was pretty disappointed, and I am not one to complain about things. I guess since it was only 10 dollars I couldn't have expected a lot.

I wasn't expecting a lot from this toy, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were more things to do with the play doh doggy doctor- facilitating creative play- than I had originally realized. My son (6 ys. old) spent a long time playing with it the first few days, and has since not gone back to it. It doesn't provide hours of play equivalent to a game boy or something more exciting, but I know he will get in the mood to play with play- doh again and it will be ready for him for another little while until it goes back on the shelf. Overall pleased.

My 4 year old son got this as a gift. He absolutely loves it. I think it has tons of great features, you just have to make sure you "teach" them how to play it by looking at the box and showing all the cool things it can do.
He loves 'giving the shot' in the leg, adminstering 'medicine', making the tongue coming out and saying 'say ahhh', finding 'fleas' under the ear, making and applying the bandades, etc. He usually has a fairly short attention span but once I get him set up and started he literally will play for 45 minutes. We have LOTS of play-doh sets, this is by far his favorite.

My daughter just received this as a gift and adores it! There are so many things to do with it: make bones, make tongue come out, make fleas, give shots, wag dog's tail, clean "ear wax", and more. This may all sound a little gross to adults, but my two year old has a blast! This toy also is great for teaching cause and effect(put play-doh in here it comes out here), fine motor skills and dexterity(it takes a little manuevering for a 2year old to get the play-doh into and out of molds). I purchased this for less than $7 on sale and it is worth every penny.

Did anybody else get the teeth mold with theres? It says on the front and back of box MOLD TEETH how or where do you do that? I found the dog hard to use by a 4 & 5 year old, even thought it says for ages 3+ The head of the dog is constantly falling off and using the syringe is also very hard to push play doh out of. The colors the put in the set were not the best either neon pink, neon green & white. I've contacted Hasbro about the Teeth mold and they wont reply. It says mold many items... bandaids, fleas, socks, slippers, bones, but where's the TEETH?

One of the best concepts I've seen!,

When I was a lad I had a ton of Play Doh. There weren't too many applications for it back in the day--just those little machines you could make shapes and "spaghetti" with. There was also a little toy I had called a Doctor Kit. It had little plastic bandages and pretend medical equipment to play with.
Now the two toys, both classics, are combined into a very well thought out and educational toy, and with the addition of another branch as well! When I was young we had an ancient dog who was at the vet a good deal. However, at the time there were few toys to actually place a child in the role of a vet. This one does just that, and does so by integrating Play Doh into the picture. While there are obvious ways to play with this, it can also spark creativity and imagination--a child could put their own sick dog into this picture and only focus on what was actually wrong with him or her. The price is good on this as well--this is an incredible bargain that is sure to keep kids entertained for hours! For anyone who loves dogs and Play Doh, this is a must!

For children it is very interesting toy to play. As they can play with it in various ways, to treat, to play with plasticine for a long time.
