This game is electronic and may be more enticing for children compared to the regular Yahtzee.

First of all it took me quite a while to figure out how to play the various games, because you have to be pretty fast to keep up with the dice.

Gave this as a gift and the kids really enjoyed it and couldn't stop playing with it and played until it was time to leave.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I realize we aren't supposed to cite other reviewers on a product, but so many here have described this game all I can do is add a few thoughts.

Or maybe just one: Pointless.

I have played a hand-held Yahtzee game that was more fun. My wife is an inveterate Yahtzee player, she gave up after ten minutes. It moves so fast you'd have to be under 12 or have ADHD to keep up with the automatic re-rolls. It proves the adage, "the house always wins", and as this is primarily for solo play, you are the house.

How can you lose a game with no competition? It auto-scores for you, and even calculates the total. It might as well be completely automated for all the interaction involved. I felt like a chimp performing basic intelligence tests.

The technology is pretty cool, so a star for that. But one of my favorite parts of "real" Yahtzee is the interactivity- poring over which combos of dice to hold, which to re-roll, adding score- human interaction- all gone. The forth game allows for multiple players, but the first three are so frustrating I can't think of anyone I would choose upon to inflict.

Sometimes it simply does not respond. When choosing a game from the "menu", it often as not fails to accept the choice. When lining up the tiles in an attempt to play a game, I see the first 4 displaying their numbers, but the 5th is giving that weird "up-arrow" display, and noting I can do can talk it out of it.

It's hostile and unfriendly. Not only are you expected to make your keep/re-roll choice in about 3 seconds, sometimes it does not respond at all. Low battery? I don't know, but sometimes I seem to have to fight it just to get the game to launch. It's aggravating.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I thought a solitaire game of yahtzee that I could play anywhere would be a fun thing. I tried all the games several times and really didn't enjoy any of them. First of all it took me quite a while to figure out how to play the various games, because you have to be pretty fast to keep up with the dice. You roll once and then separate out what you want to re roll and keep the others touching. But if you don't do this pretty fast you will loose the ones you want to keep as the dice will re roll while you are trying to get them back together.

I also found it hard to see the little screen and I tried several different kinds of light to find the best one, none of them seemed to work. The scoring happens really fast not giving you a chance to figure out what is happening, but then it takes a long time for it to reset back to the game choice menu.

My two year old grandson has had fun playing with these little squares, using them like blocks. That is about the extent of the entertainment value. These might be fun if you were stuck with no power for some reason but 5 dice which would take up less room would be far more useful. You can't even make up your own game on these, they must work according to the program.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I ordered this game as part of the Vine program thinking that it would be similar to regular Yahtzee but with an electronic twist. Boy was I disappointed. The games you can play on these "dice" are nothing like Yahtzee. There are no record sheets to play regular Yahtzee with which should be the first clue that this isn't really Yahtzee, just a little electronic diversion.

There are four games included in the package. Three of the four games are solo games and the only multi player game that exists is sad, try to get 5 of a kind faster than anyone else. I am glad I didn't pay money for this item or it would be going back immediately.

Don't waste your time or money on this game. It is only Yahtzee because they slapped that name on it!

If you are older than 12 you're probably going to snub your nose at this version. Things move fast and it's not bad if you are playing solo games. My husband doesn't mind it. It drives me bonkers. And having written that sentence please don't let anyone ruin that game too. This electronic version makes me fear for the future. There was nothing wrong with yahtzee. In fact I loved it, that's why I chose this version. This version makes me appreciate the regular old school dice even more so.

There was just something more fun about blowing on the dice and making a fool of myself trying to believe that would bring me luck. ;-)

My husband does like playing the solo Poker game...so it's not a total loss. If you have a poker lover in your family..it might be worthwhile to check out for that person.

On another note, the packaging here is watseful. The plastic was difficult to get into (yes it is not shoplifter friendly but I also ruined a pair of scissors on it and found it to be excessive). Also there was a rules card in the package. Why not make this a set of stickers for inside the storage box so that they never get lost. Five years from now..no rules card...no play game. :-(

So if the name is Yahtzee I would expect it to play the basic Yahtzee game and it does not.

We bought this on a trip when it was raining thinking the 5 of us (3 younger kids) could play yahtzee. It was not somehting the 5 of us could play easily as it was variations of the game and really geared for solo play. Skip it.
