4.0 out of 5 stars fun adult game, December 17, 2001

I bought this game not too long ago. It's really simple to learn and just as simple to play. So, if you're looking for a game that's not too complicated, this is one for you.

You are given a phrase like "I love my rubber ducky" and have to say it in a certain mood. For example: Bossy. The game can get quite funny sometimes. The other players have to choose which of the moods you are acting out.

A little bit of strategy is also a part of the game. Each player is given 4 chips with the numbers 1-4 on them. Depending on how confident you are in guessing the mood, you wager accordingly. If you use your #4 chip on the play and guess correctly, you move 4 spaces. But if you're wrong, you have wasted a 4 chip for that round and won't be able to use it again until you have used your other chips.

The only drawback is that the game almost has to be played at a table. You can't play it with people scattered across the room. Because to vote on which mood you think the person is portraying, everyone has to slap a small chip quickly down on the table at the same time (This way no one can change their vote based on the popular consensus). This is impossible to do unless you're all sitting around the board. I think the game makers could have come up with a better way for players to vote.

Overall, though, it's a great game for teens and adults. I reccommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the perfect game, but lots of silly fun, December 4, 2001

We bought this while visitng some friends out of town when we discovered they had no board games. Pretty much you act out in different emotions and people have to guess which emotion you are. What makes it funny is the the types of sentences you have to say with emotion (Imagine having to say your first pet was a gorilla while emoting jealousy). The actual game play isn't too brilliant but it is quick and you'll have fun seeing who in your group is truly the theatrical type. It's not who you think I'd bet. Would be great for a drama class or group.

My two children are involved in speech at school. This game is ideal for practice in how to express yourself in many different ways. I think it would be a fun tool for speech teachers to use with students to loosen them up and help them practice different dramatic expressions. I give it a 5 rating because it is a great ice-breaker and educational as well!

I'm a tournament chess player - meaning... if i want to -win- a game, i play chess. But the other day I ended up at DJ AJ Mora's house party playing Moods. O my God this game is so fun! Like the last entry says, this game will definitely show through non-humiliating hilarity who is the theatrical type!
I am going to get this game for my computer company here in Burbank because it will definitely get my sales guys to laugh and bond.
Thanks a lot Hasbro for this TREMENDOUS ACHIEVEHMENT!

This is a great game! It'll make you laugh extremely easily. It's fun to play with just 2 people or a whole group of people. I would reccomend this for someone who is haveing a party, needs a gift for someone, or is just looking for something fun to do. This is a great buy, and fun for any kid or adult!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun!, November 19, 2002

I purchased this game based on the reviews of other players. We have a monthly "Game Night" for adults and we have several community theatre members among us. We played this game last week and had great fun! We played with two-person teams and each person on the team took a crack at expressing the selected mood. It was interesting to see how the same mood was expressed by two different people. Sometimes it was easy to guess and sometimes it made it more challenging! Since we don't play games for educational value, I gave this game a middle-of-the-road rating for that category. Overall, a very fun party game. We'll definitely play again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moods is an excellent, FUN, theraputic tool, February 10, 2008
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

I use Moods in therapy sessions with middle school and high school students with Asperger's or autism. Learning to look at others and gauge their emotions requires activation of mirror neurons. Very recent neuroscientific studies have shown students with these disorders don't have typical activation of these neurons, and I'm sure this is exactly what is stimulated when we play this game. This is exactly what people with social skills problems need. My kids use the skills of guessing others' emotions in situations very different from the game after playing. It's a great tool and it's FUN! Just be sure to edit the content of some of the cards before playing with kids!

I bought this board game 4-5 years age when I was diagnosed with a spacial learning disorder where I had trouble reading facial expressions and tones of voices thinking that it might help me pick up on the subtle differences between things like tension and anger. After just a month of just playing with my family we became addicted to the game and they already started to notice that I was getting better at reading their facial expressions and moods. This game is great for a laugh at a party or for some good old fashioned family fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reveal your acting skills, May 7, 2007
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Moods Board Game (Toy)
Although quick entertainment, the more often you play this game, the more fun it becomes because people start really getting the feel for acting out different emotions. It brings your acting skills out. An individual is being put into the spotlight to act out a specific mood to the other members. The person is pulling a card with a phrase on it which needs to be stated f.ex. in a jealous way or a joyous way or a sad way. This game would be difficult for younger children but great for teens and adults. A wonderful game bringing a group together. But be warned, the acting person might get attact by the others for how they acted it out which can be funny but this game might be risky for emotionally sensitive folks. It's a fascinating, fun, silly, and bonding experience.
