Product Description

Amazon.com

Shopping games, no matter when they're introduced to the market, all have the same objective: shop 'til you drop! This one is no different. For detractors, Mall Madness may teach and encourage over-consumption, indebtedness, and a focus on material culture at an early age (9 and up). But for those who care more about pretty ponchos than prickly politics, the game offers the same guilty pleasure that comes from excessive shopping in reality! A mall in miniature, the game's 21 by 30-inch, 3-D board and electronic console includes a food court (for which there are tokens), mall stands, an escalator, and plenty of shops, "mall money" and "cash cards" to go around. Grownups and kids (up to 4 players) who can make six purchases without too many pitfalls win the game--a claim in reality that the stores usually make. Diane Beall

5.0 out of 5 stars Really entertaining & great teaching toy!, November 17, 2005

My family is probably way off the demographic map for this game. My 6 yr old son picked out this game much to my husband's dissatisfaction (he wanted him to get a nerf target shooter). Well, we all had a total BLAST playing this game!! My 5 & 6 yr old boys needed a little help with the skill & pragmatics of game playing. They actually caught on very quickly for a game recommended for ages 9 and up. The simple fun and highly entertaining game play also incorporates many teaching opportunities. Players need to strategize, count money/make change, evaluate purchases, keep an eye on their finances, look for bargains, play defensively as well as offensively, and really garner a plan of attack (what mall stores to go to, when and where, based both on proximity and ever changing sales) to optimize their buying power all the while keeping an eye on the other shoppers progress. This totally is not a "froo-froo" girl's only game! A heads-up warning, expect to spend at least 20 minutes simply setting the game up for first time play unless multiple persons assist. My family enjoys playing games together and this is a terrific addition to our collection! The first thing we did the morning after we got the game (we had played it the night before) was play three more rounds of Mall Madness back to back-even before we ate b-fast! I think that is quite the statement to how much fun and enjoyment we got out of playing.

I got this last year and it is pretty fun. It takes some time to set up and you sometimes have to press the "say it again" button alot. Mine so far is fun. My mom even says on stormy days "How about that Mall Madness" game. It really makes you learn the sentence "do not spend all the money" because then you have to go to the ATM.
Hope this review helped!

Mall Madness is probaly my favorite game. The way I first heard of it was when I went to my friends house and she asked me if I wanted to play a new game she got, well of course I said yes because it was a new game that I did not have so I wanted to play to see if I wanted to buy it some day . Well now I know that I want it. So my parents are thinking about getting it for me.I think this is a 5 star game . I also like this game because it teaches kids to spend there money wisely and that they cant always get what they want. Also I think that it teaches kids that when you get old enough to have a credit card that you cant always keep getting money out and that when you use up all the money in your account then you cant get any money out any more .So I think this game teaches kids a lot about money, and how you should spend your money wisely.
