Boggle is a game in which you try to make up the most words using the letters found in a 4x4 grid. The letters must connect and you only have three minutes to do so. The bigger the words the higher the points you get, but if two or more players find the same word no one gets points for it. The game is very fun and fast paced. Plus you can play as little or as much time as you want; no need to "finish" the game (like in Scrabble). Just add the points and whoever has the higher score wins, it's that simple.

This version is Awesome and nicely improved over the original version. Here comes the description;

NEW DOME AND GRID: The dome and grid are made of a new material that makes it QUIETER when you shake the letter dice. No more waking everyone up late at night!

BUILT-IN TIMER: It comes with an electronic timer (batteries are included) that beeps softly and changes color from green to amber, then to red when times almost up. This eliminates the need to bob up your head every 10 seconds to see if the sand timer ran out. Great!

PLAYING MATERIALS: Four pads and pencils are included, plus the instructions obviously.

COMES IN A FOLIO: Stores everything easily. The folio has pockets for the pads and pencils (extra space for more). You can carry it around comfortably and is great if you have to travel or wait for a long time in one place.

This version is so nice it should be called Boggle Deluxe Edition. If you like Boggle you must buy this. As soon as you do, you will not go back to the original version, guaranteed.

This is a must have for serious travelers and all Boggle-lovers! The game is more portable, quieter, and extremely addicting. One addition we would make is to add a small pencil sharpener that catches its shavings, then it would be perfect. Be sure to get a small dictionary so that you can quickly end word disputes or your trip may be too long!

One of my kid's Grandmother's brought this. Very portable, sturdy, would be great for traveling with kids. The trick she explained is that you can have different, easier rules for younger kids so that it can be great fun for new readers too.

Boggle is a wonderful and easy-to-play word game that is suitable for players of all ages and skill levels. The box is small and easy to carry, making it a great game to take on road or plane trips. The game comes with a shakable dice tray and lid, alphabetic dice and a timer. All you need to provide is some sheets of paper and pencils.

Game play is very simple. Put the lid on the dice tray and shake it up. When the dice are all settled and the players are all ready, lift the lid and flip the timer. Every player now has three minutes to write down as many words as they can find that contain three or more letters. Words must be found from letters that are adjacent to or diagonal to each other on the board. The same letter cube cannot be used twice in one word. Plurals and verb conjugations count as words. Homographs or multi-definition words only count once.

After time is up, each player, one at a time, reads their list to the other players. Any word that is found on multiple lists is deleted from both of those lists. When everyone has figured out their non-matching words, they may now score their points. Points are scored by word length, as follows:

3, 4 letters: 1 point
5 letters: 2 points
6 letters: 3 points
7 letters: 5 points
8 or more letters: 11 points

Boggle strategy is similar to basic Scrabble strategy. In fact, Boggle can make for a nice warm-up game for Scrabble players, as finding words in a Boggle board is similar to finding words in a Scrabble rack. It's important to practice anagramming to become a successful Boggle player. It's worthwhile to spend your first few seconds of the game looking as the board and finding short but common prefixes and suffixes such as -s, -ed, -er, re-, de- and common letter combinations such as -sh-, -th-, -wh-, -ch-, etc.

It's important to remember to always write down both the plural and singular forms of a word, if they're available. It's a real bummer to discover during the list-reads that you've forgotten a 5-letter word just because you forgot to write the plural.

In any case, Boggle is a great game for a family game night or for travel.... you can take it anywhere (the folio edition is somewhat unneccessary, as the original box is pretty small and portable). No wonder it's such an enduring classic!

Boggle is an excellent game. When I ordered the Boggle folio I thought it would be great for travel. When it arrived I was shocked to find that the folio is much bigger than the original Boggle game. Yes it contains pencils (but no pencil sharpener ...), writing pads, etc. but these things were never hard to come by anyway. It is also not well designed. The plastic cover covering the letters is not high enough to allow a good shake of the dice. Finally, the price is not right. Had I known, I would have invested in a rubber band to put around my original Boggle set. Still, Boggle rules.

This is a nice travel piece. The Boggle box comes out of the travel case. Paper, pencils and instructions are included. All fit great into the zippered pouch. There is ample room if you wish to add your own paper and pencils/pens. It is a great educational game that is also fun!

This game I really bought for my husband and I to play when we were away. However, I found my kids (3 boys ages 5-10) LOVE it. They don't care that they don't always win. They love looking for words in the letters. They are becoming better spellers and becoming more aware of little things!

This is the traveling version of the old 80's word-search game where points are scored based on words that you have listed that others do not have. This educational game will provide many hours of entertainment for children and adults. Great game to pack and bring along for family reunions.

This Boggle Folio game is fantastic! My family and I play it at least 5 times per week. It brings us all together and it is a wonderful game! It is also educational and helps the kids with spelling. It's sure to get everyone laughing! It is our favorite game by far!

I bought this for my 9 year old. We took it camping and he loved playing it. It's fun and easy and a great way to work on creative skills and play a family game.
