The Giraffalaff Limbo will have your preschoolers howling with laughter as they try to limbo alongside the ticklish Giraffalaff giraffe. A quick spin of the wheel reveals which silly animal's walk you'll have to do under the limbo bar--whether it's the bird walk or the crab walk. Just make sure not to knock down Giraffalaff or he'll go into a frenzy of giggles, and you'll be out of the game! Designed for children ages three and up, this limbo set is a fun and activity-filled game that will keep your child engaged.

What We Think

Durability:
Ease of assembly:
Educational factor:

The Good: Giraffalaff is fun way for kids to strengthen their coordination skills.

The Challenging: Cardboard construction; should be used and stored indoors.

In a Nutshell: Neat limbo set for preschoolers with lots of fun colors and upbeat music.

Be careful not to bump Giraffalaff, he's very, very ticklish! View larger.
Soft, Foam Limbo Bar Perfect for Smaller Children
The Giraffalaff Limbo set stands about as tall as your preschooler. The sides of the set are formed with bright poles made to look like jungle vines, and Giraffalaff himself clips easily onto the yellow limbo bar.

All of the Giraffalaff Limbo parts are lightweight or made out of soft foam. Parents won't have to worry about anyone getting hurt while doing one of the hilarious, wacky walks under the limbo bar or when the bar and Giraffalaff come falling to the floor.

The limbo set also plays upbeat, fun music, and Giraffalaff's giggles once the limbo bar has dropped. Because the limbo spinner and Giraffalaff are made out of a durable cardboard, we would recommend playing this game indoors and away from water to prevent warping.

Promotes Coordination and Gross Motor Skills
Giraffalaff and his fellow animal friends are all cute, colorful, and happy--making it impossible not to love them. This limbo set is great for preschoolers who are still working on their coordination skills, since they will be focusing on six different styles of walking or occasionally making up their own. And even when the bar falls, Giraffalaff's friendly giggles make it a positive experience, instead of focusing on who wins or loses.

What's in the Box
Giraffalaff plaque with two clips, three foam tubes, electronic module with support tube, eight leaf bar supports, two three-piece limbo poles, two bases, and a spinner with arrow and base.(Batteries not included.)

I would have to disagree with the previous reviewer. I just bought this game for the pediatric clinic where I work, and I am very happy with my purchase. It was easy to assemble--it only took me about 5 minutes to put 3 AAA batteries in and snap the pieces together.

As for the sound level, all you need to do is put a piece of masking tape over the speaker, and it will not be nearly as loud. I found that it's just right.

It is a little inconvenient that you can't pull the leg out of the base, but you can easily disassemble the other parts of the pole so that it takes up less storage space.

Since the bar is not very high, it's definitely designed for younger kids (ages 8 and below). But if you incorporate various animal walks, such as bending over like a monkey, then you can include taller children. This is a fun game for children to develop dynamic balance. Just be creative, adapt the game, and kids will love it!

Our 5yr old is TOTALLY into animals and wanted an eco-friendly, animal rescue birthday party. So we had a travelling zoo come visit during his party while she educated the kids about abandoned or abused exotic animals & insects and for our obstacle course, we hung a disc swing from a tree and placed toy alligators on the ground for the kids to 'swing over the alligator swamp', taped pictures of Go Diego Go's BO-BO brothers on empty plastic bottles and had them bowl with a soccer ball to knock them down. The HUGE hit (besides the zoo lady and animals) was this Giraffalaff Limbo. We had kids from 4-8yrs old excited to play this game. Unfortunately this was too small for the 7 and 8yr olds as they kept knocking the limbo bar off but the younger kids from 4-6yrs old LOVED it and played it over and over again. It worked exactly like it was supposed to and prompted a lot of smiles, laughs and giggles. There is a button that you push on the bar, then someone else spins the arrow and tells the crowd which sort of walk you have to try to do under the bar...ie: backwards walk, crab walk, crawl, etc. I still chuckle at the thought of my little one doing his 'crab walk' and 'bird walk'...for his crab walk, he had pinchers for his hands and fingers and simply walked under, all the kids flapped their arms for the bird walk...some chirped, one jutted his neck out like a chicken...it was the cutest thing.

It SEEMS like the poles will break at some point because they are made with that hard type of plastic but so far, they've been knocked down, used as a toy gun, been stepped on accidentally by (little) kids and SO FAR it's held up but I don't see it lasting much longer due to the type of plastic...

This was a cute little game... HOWEVER.. It's more for toddlers than your bigger kids that are 6-8 years old. I still thought the concept was great. The product was well made.. I didn't think the music coming from the unit was loud enough.. Kids are noisey so they should have remembered that...but who cares.. You can play music yourself. I found tons of Limbo music for kids. The highest point to set the soft pole was not high enough for the bigger kids... so the game didn't last but for 3 rounds. It was still fun and it gives you a nice starting point. I couldn't make one so buying one was better. I just worked with it and it worked out well. I had 25 kids ( 2-10 years old) and used my own music and it was fun! I would buy it again for the concept. Three rounds was still good but the bigger kids couldn't win!

this was a gift for my niece and she loves it the music adds to the game that kids enjoy all the more. I will say that a parent will need to assemble this, it isn't a game that a child will be able to put together on their own.

This product was nice for decorative perposes. However, it was not considered to be sturdy and unable to stand alone. This toy may be good for children of 1 year- 2yrs, but they wouldn't know how to do the limbo. I bought this for my daughter's 4th birthday (pajama party). Her godmother and I had to hold the limbo stick because the toy is so fragile and the poles aren't sturdy enough to hold the limbo stick. However, it looked pretty good from a decorative point of view.

First I want to address the concern for the loudness. I too can't stand these toys with no volume control but I find **masking tape** works great. This game needed two layers right over the speaker to quiet it down inside the house!

My son (4) enjoyed trying the different walks, although the pictures confused us as to what the difference was between two of them. At the party (4-5 yo) it got minimal attention but they certainly did enjoy knocking the pole over to hear the giggling and they could easily reset the game without adult help. That said, we didn't try to orchestrate a limbo game, just set it out to be investigated. Playing with cars and trucks and throwing balloons was more interesting to them at this age. I left it out for a couple of weeks afterwards and there wasn't more than passing interest. It's now in storage for the next play date or party.
