4.0 out of 5 stars Quick and Easy
My husband and I used to love playing board games, that is, until we had children. Now, it's hard to find enough time, and a quick game is just what we need. This game presupposes a previous knowledge of Monopoly, suggesting that those who love the original will like this one, too. 3.0 out of 5 stars Dicey Monopoly
Monopoly Express is an innovation of the standard game, and it has 2 main positives. 1) it takes a short time to play; and 2) it is portable / compact. Some of the negatives are 1) the loss of competition / competing with other players - you are mostly competting against the dice; and 2) the excitement of watching your housing development grow compared to your playmates...

My husband and I used to love playing board games, that is, until we had children. Now, it's hard to find enough time, and a quick game is just what we need. This game presupposes a previous knowledge of Monopoly, suggesting that those who love the original will like this one, too. It is primarily about rolling the dice, and involves no money (which was a bit of a disappointment). On the plus side, not having Monopoly money to play with makes us less competitive and more apt to enjoy the game in a friendly fashion. I would definitely recommend it, and we plan to buy the Scrabble version, too.

I normally go for games that a a little more cerebral but it's hard to find games that you can take anywhere or play with anyone. Basically this is a dice version of monopoly that is point based. You set a point total and first to reach it wins. Small enough that it can be played on the food tray of an airplane seat or in the back seat of a car. Dice aren't easily lost because the container the game come in is also where you roll the dice into. I've played this with adults and children alike, young children stand to learn some math skills from adding the point totals and playing the odds. Only drawback to the game is that the rules for some rare situations in the game should be clarified but it isn't a deal breaker.

This game was a lot of fun, but explaining the rules took a pretty decent chunk of time. Make sure you have a sheet of scrap paper to keep track of your scores though!

My 8 year old son loves this game. I like it because it obviously takes a lot less time than a normal Monopoly game and is still a lot of fun. It's also easy to pack for trips.

This game is a lot of fun, and while somewhat dependant upon luck as all dice games are, does require skill & planning also. We've enjoyed it a lot, played nearly every day since Christmas. Can't beat the time either, we can easily play in under 30 minutes.

My husband and I really enjoy this game- it's much more fun than we anticipated. It goes super fast with minimal thought- perfect if you want to reconnect while the kids are playing with their toys for a few minutes. The portability is another great feature. I like it better than the original!

I purchased this to add to my camping games since it's portable. The kids in my family just loved this and I think would have played all weekend long. I liked that it could be played in a reasonably short amount of time, unlike the classic version that could take hours and hours. It was easy to catch on to the modified rules of this Monopoly game, though there are a few circumstances that aren't necessarily covered - in that case we just made up a rule and consistently stuck with it ourselves. I gave it 3 stars for durability only because there are so many dice and kids are apt to lose them if not watched carefully. Shouldn't be any problems for adults. Same goes for Scrabble Express.

5.0 out of 5 stars Monopoly Express: A Fun Little Secret, January 9, 2011

Monopoly Express, a fun little secret, that anyone ten and older can play. This updated twist on the old standard incorporates speed and strategy. Each roll requires the players to evaluate what properties they will choose to gain, but watch out for the policeman on the dice as they can arrest the best strategist and end the turn. No money is exchanged so it is portable and the bills will not blow away. This has the added benefit of having to add quickly and to decide how risky you want to be. High score puts you on top. Most games can be completed in 30 minutes so challengers can be taken down in an evening. Fun for all ages anywhere you go. Enjoy! Tip: When looking on line always use Monopoly Express to search because it does not come up with other Monopoly products or names.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the Express games are great, February 8, 2010

The Express games are great for all ages - our "gang" of forty-somethings plays them all the time, but I bought this one for my 9 year old nephew. I know he loves it, because I've played it with him. The great thing about Monopoly Express in particular is that it enhances math and analytical skills (you have to add up the points you have & decide when to stop rolling the dice). The kids have so much fun figuring it all out & trying to win that they don't realize they're learning. Also, there's lots of activity - rolling a big handful of dice, picking what to keep or discard, trying to get a "house", kibbutzing when it's someone else's turn - I highly recommend this game if you have a "busy" child who has a hard time sitting still.
