Poorly Designed Game,

The game is very poorly designed. The pegs are very flimsy and don't fit into the holes tightly. They keep dropping off at every slight touch. Its very annoying.

I concur with the other reviews. In concept, the game is pretty cool. In execution, it completely fails. The pegs falling out drives you nuts really quick. I'd like to know if anyone had the patience to actually finish a game. Re-designing the pegs is a must for Milton Bradley.

So disappointed!,

I agree with the other review. It's a cheaply made game, and the instructions didn't make sense that one ship could fire 8 times per turn. It was very frustrating when the pegs kept falling out and it was difficult to see the grid to determine if it should be a hit or miss. What a rip off.

I bought this game for a 6 year old. He loved it! It took a little bit to get the directions down since it is nothing like regular battleship but after that it was a lot of fun. The only bad thing I can say is sometimes the pegs fall out. You really have to push them in, and sometimes whatever the person is doing on the otherside can make them fall out. Over all a great game.

For the price I paid for it, this game isn't bad at all. As far as the pegs go, as mentioned in the other reviews they could fit a little better; but in the set I received at least, they were a far cry from falling out at the slightest breath. Perhaps they switched pegs during production.
It does add an interesting twist to the classic game of Battleship, in that you have the different ship shapes that need to be sunk, each with their own "weak points". It seems to me that after playing it enough, you would get to recognize which ships the opponent has by their shapes though. You don't have the freedom to position all over the board like classic Battleship, so it may give an unfair advantage to someone who is familiar with the game. I haven't played it enough to decide that point yet. In summary, it's not really a spectacular game, but it's not bad either. I can say I was pretty satisfied with the purchase.

I buy many things from amazon. I rate a few. This one I must let others beware. Yes, it is a pirates of carr toy. So hence, the attraction to buy a movie item. HOWEVER ~ it is NOT like the ~~ original battleship ~~. There are NO ~~~ plastic ships ~~. They are in the form of paper cards that you insert to make flags on the ship THAT TEAR EASILY . The pegs do not stay in proper. When you go to push it in the other ~ PEGS ~ that managed to stay in previously ~~ FALL OUT ~~. So, you spend time putting all the pegs back in as they fall out if you both can remember where they ALL go if you choose to continue after replacing the pegs numerous, numerous times. I have the patience of Job and believe me it took more than that to finsh one game with my child. For the cards to last they would need to be laminated. If you already bought this, ~~ just take the pegs and put into your ~~ original battleship game ~~. If you have one, and give to a 4 year old to play with the cards. IF YOU HAVEN'T BOUGHT IT YET DO NOT, NOT!!! SEE ALL THE REVIEWS BAD GAME

I purchased this in quantity to have around for those last minute birthday party gifts. The price was great and its a nice little gift! I know it would have cost two or three times more in the store.

I picked this game up for my son for a good price. But after playing it, I want my money back. I am in complete agreement with the other reviewers about the pegs. While trying to snap the pieces together, a piece broke off. While trying to play the game with my son, every breath we took DID knock the pegs out of place. And when the game was FINALLY over, neither one of us wanted to ever play it again. I discourage everyone from wasting their hard earned money on this game, even if you find it on clearance in a thrift store. Stick with the classic Battleship!!
