3.0 out of 5 stars Pictionary Jr
This game was purchased for my grand daughter for Christmas, and she loves it. I have not had the opportunity to play it with her, but she plays with her friends and has alot of laughs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for the Whole Family!, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Pictionary Jr (Toy)
One of the games my son got from his Grandma for Christmas was Pictionary Jr. My husband, myself and our son was on one team, and my brother, his girlfriend, and her son was on the other. We were having so much fun that Grandma begged us to play the next game!

When rolling the die and landing on an All Play square (shown by an image of four pencils), the "Picturist" for one team shows the Picturist from the other team the word that matches the color of the square landed upon. BOTH Picturists draw the word and then it's a race as to who draws the picture the fastest. For Single Play (shown by a single pencil), one team rolls the die and sketches until someone on the team does NOT guess the picture.

This game comes with a white side with easier words (for smaller children), while the blue side has more challenging words. For example, the white side of one card may have Bell, Baby, Box, Button and Branch (Starts with "B"), while the blue side will have Team, Goal Post, High Five, Quarterback and Cheerleader (Football Game). Of course, which word is actually drawn depends on which colored square that is landed on.

There are two game pieces and a sand timer. The game comes with two small pencils and a pad of paper, but get this: the pencils aren't even sharpened! They're just pieces of unsharpened wood. Sheesh...they don't make 'em like they used to!

If you like drawing games, Pictionary Jr. is a fun option for the whole family--even for children who can't yet read (they can always guess what the pictures are!). Unfortunately, there needs to be at least 3 players for this game. In the case of 3 players, one person serves as the permanent Picturist for both teams.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a Kid's Game with Drawing!!, August 14, 2004

I like Pictionary Jr. because it is a game about drawing, one of my favorite things, for kids. It's hard for younger kids who can't read and you need about four people. But overall, I really like it.

This game will be easy for adults but is really good for kids. My kids loved to play regular pictionary but it is hard for them to understand what some the items/things are to draw. Sometimes I don't know... Pictionary Jr solves that problem easily. It is a game for the whole family and comes with 2 skill levels for different ages of kids. Kids have to think outside the box and it is really great to see how their minds truly work diffently from an adults.

As a family game, we have tons of fun.
The kids really get into it. They have to use
their imagination. The whole family loves it.

I bought this game for my 7 year old twins, a boy and a girl. They both love it. It is nice having two different levels of difficulty. An adult must help as the kids can't read all of the words yet. We even help our 3 year old play too. As a teacher and parent, I would definitely recommend this game for the whole family.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game for whole family!, August 13, 2006
This review is from: Pictionary Jr (Toy)
This game is a good tool for all kids even if they can't read or draw as they just need to guess at what their team-mate is drawing. We bought this game for our kids as they love to draw and like the adult version so much we are happy they have their own version. Great job and great game to create family fun!

We play this as a family on family game night. My five year old daughter is as good and has as much fun as anyone, but we have to read her some of the words.

5.0 out of 5 stars any age, May 27, 2008

This pictionary version is a game any age can play. It works best with teams. You should also have a "reader" on each team or a designated "reader". What is great for younger kids, is that they feel successful when you are able to guess what they have drawn. (even when the picture looks nothing like it is suppose to look like) The game focuses on a subject theme. (ex: items found in a sandbox) That way you can somewhat guess at what the child is drawing.

On a side note. This is a great birthday party game. You can split up into teams and you can be the designated reader.

Have fun!

I purchased this game so my kids would not be watching TV all the time and get their brains going. My 5 year old even joins in too. The whole family loves to play on a Sunday. Kids get to guess and draw and have fun without tv or video games!

We have 3 kids, ages 5, 8 and 10, and we can play this game together. There are 2 levels of clue difficulty, so that helps us customize it based on what our kids can do. My 5yo plays on a team with an adult to help him along, but we are amazed at how well he can do. He just needs someone from the other team to read and whisper the clue to him and give him an idea of how to draw it. We haven't been able to find this game in stores and so we were very happy to find it here on Amazon. Highly recommended!
