3.0 out of 5 stars Old game is new again
Just purchased another "Twister" game for the grandkids.
It is still fun, but I do think that years ago, teenagers used this game for a fun and innocent (?) contact sport. How times
have changed! The plastic is a bit slippery........but
falling down and tumbling over each other is part of the fun.

My 14 year old son constantly berides us for remaining Nintendo-free. So imagine his surprise, when at his 14th birthday party his like-minded guests discovered "Twister," declaring it an "awesome" game.

We all know this goofy game, the one that "ties you up in knots." The boomer-echo kids haven't had the same experience with these silly games, and it is a real novelty to them. The funniest photos from said birthday party show these hip kids dissolving into giggles as the pile collapses on the mat.

There is even somewhat of an educational aspect to this game. To be successful, some advance planning and spatial relations skills are helpful in avoiding the inevitable collapse. This generation of kids has not always had the same level of hands-on spatial experience we enjoyed when tearing apart items from the junk heap. "Twister" is a fun way for kids to get some of this experience for themselves. As for their parents, I move MUCH more slowly with my 40-something muscles, but it's still a blast to play with the kids!

I have played this for years at birthday parties, but finally got one of my own last summer. So I took it to a Summer Youth Camp with me...and about 25 of us teens took turns on there. It was such a blast!
The only thing I would say is, if you have back or neck problems, you might want to skip this one. Or you could always be the spinner person. Either way, this one's tons of fun!

No matter how many college parties I've been to, the ones that played twister were the best! Buy four and play ULTIMATE TWISTER with 12 people. Great way to meet members of the fairer sex.

Also great for birthday parties for children. Definitely one game you don't want to be left without!

Surely everyone knows Twister? My first encounter was when my sister got the game for her birthday in 1976.
She and her friends had a ball with it at her party, then the adults had a go; or rather the Dads.
The Mums all seemed to wear frocks in those days and they didn't want to disgrace themselves at my Sister's party! The Dads on the other hand, would be really dumb at the drop of a hat to make us kids laugh.
I remember it being fun whatever age I was (I played a lot of games at college and we were all pretty giddy with wine then, much like the Dads back in 76!).
You can't fail to enjoy it, just be careful if your back is troubled or you have any injuries that are healing. Oh and be careful if you play with someone with stinky feet! the game really is a "shoes off" number, This is a fine idea but I remember back in 76 one of the Dads was not so sweet and one of my college buddies was rank! This means the mat needs a wipe down occassionally, otherwise there is a unfortunate lasting pong every time you open the box!!

Didn't we all have Twister at some point in our childhood? Well, I can no longer actually play in the game anymore because I"m not as limber as I used to be, but my kids had a ball playing this. They got it for Christmas (their age ranges from 8 to 4). Although the younger ones don't know left from right yet, they still had a great time & a lot of laughs.

Everyone is a winner playing Twister. My husband and I took this to a school for at risk kids in Peru. There is nothing like a little fun to break through cultural barriers. They rather enjoyed watching us trying to beat each other along with them. We're buying extras to send back to the school. Classic games like Twister take you right back to childhood as you watch new generations give the spinner a try.

4.0 out of 5 stars Contortionism for the Masses, September 26, 2005

This game is probably one of the simplest, but also most difficult games to play well. It requires a level of dexterity that can easily become unmanageable, though it is extremely entertaining to see people try.

The game mat is pretty strong, made of thick plastic sheeting that can stand up to most punishment a crowd can dish out. It is recommended that one should play without shoes, as instructed, as this will preserve the playing mat for longer.

The game is great at parties, if you want something fun for everyone, (including adults). However, those with flexibility or joint problems might want to exercise caution.

In short, "Twister" is a fun game for just about anywhere that a group of people are. It is simple, hard, and lots of fun, (even for the spectators).

5.0 out of 5 stars Just a whole lot of laughs!, December 5, 2006

This is a game that has been around for a lot of years that can get a good belly laugh from any age group young or old. This is a wonderful game to pull out on unsuspecting guests! Ha Ha HA!! It is even more hilarious to play after you have conned the reluctant player into participating. It is a great way for even the stiffest of the stiffs to learn to laugh at themselves in a healthy way that will leave them with funnybone memories for years to come. I love it when the adults play this with the kids because it lets the kids see that adults don't always have to be prim and proper and that they love to have fun too. When it gets clumsy is the best time because you really are able to bond with others when you see them unable to keep an impossible reach and learn that nobody is perfect and that is what is great about everyone as an individual.

Hello! It's Nessie :).

Come on, we have another classic game here. How can you deny it?

Twister is game where someone spins a cardboard spinner and calls out right foot blue, left hand green etc. In the end, the 2 players end up in a really funny position.

This game is great for a rainy Saturday. Play some nice, upbeat music, and you got yourself a cheaper and more active alternative to the movies.

Or, make Twister a lively party game. Twister tournaments work wonders as a party attraction!

There are may differnt possibilties and MORe funny positions you can find yourself in! Kids love it and grownups to. Sometimes it's fun to have a wacky position competition. I suggest you buy this toy 100%!

Good Luck!

Nessie!!
