My boys received this game as a Christmas gift. I was so pleased with this toy, as well as very surprised: I had never heard of this game before! This game has 3 difficulty settings (1,2,3); the higher the number, the more sensitive the "mule" becomes to being jostled. These settings means everyone in the family enjoys playing the game, from our 3 year old to us adults (including my upstairs neighbor!) Basically one carefully piles the "gear" onto "Buckaroo's" saddle, taking turns, until all pieces have been placed or the mule "kicks", spraying game pieces all over the table, much to the laughter of all playing. It receives: 5 stars for fun (yee- hah!); 3 stars for educational value (well, fine motor skills ARE important, but I think games should be more about fun than learning, anyway) ;4 stars for durability ("Buckaroo" will sometimes jump right out of the base when the game pops) And 5 stars overall because my family loves this game as much as we love "Uncle Wiggily", "Phase 10", and "Skip BO", other games I had never heard of before receiving them as gifts. Buckaroo joins a closet full of games, some classic, some new, (some educational, even!), all beloved on family game night!

My daughter received this game early this year. We were all so excited to try it out but boy what a dumb, frustrating game. Neat idea...but doesn't work right. I thought the idea of having 3 levels was good, but for us, no matter what level of sensitivity you set in on, it will not buck at all. My daughter is not even 4 yet, and every time..she gets every piece on the horse and it still doesn't buck. She has to press on the rear of it to make it work. This game was such a disappointment and I really would NOT reccommend it to anyone. I wish I could have tried it out first. Also, the saddle is hard to get on for a younger child and it doesn't stay on well either. Bummer!

Picked this up after the enticing commercials my 3.5 yr old saw ... and returned it the day after. Definitely not worth the price (...)! Pieces kept falling off, we couldn't get the saddle to stay on and most of the prongs were not long enough to hold any of the pieces. Other times we could load the horse up and it wouldn't buck at all! Save your money for something other than this plastic gem.

I saw Buckaroo advertised on tv, and we picked it up for my 5 year old son (and me). The objective is too simple; you try to load up as much gear on the saddle of a horse without him "bucking" all of it off. Sounds easy but it isn't.This game is pretty fun overall. Colorful pieces, cool looking horse, simple concept. My only complaint is trying to get the saddle to stay on. The saddle is the piece that you actually "hook" all the gear onto, and sometimes it won't stay on. This translates into a lot of frustration b/c you can't even get the game started without the saddle in place. Aside from this fact, the game is fun and there are no dice or cards in sight...=)

I love to get this game out when it's a rainy day and the children and I are close to getting cabin fever from boredom. We all love it for us bring families together in the best kind of way, to have fun and to spend quality time together. It's not hugley sturdy and the peices and action are not suitable for very small children but it is hugely fun! My children are more enclined to say "do you remember the time we played buckaroo that rainy Saturday?", which leads to, "let's do it again!" Rather than, "I'm bored!".

I've never written a review before, but now feel obligated to save kids from the dissapointment they will be sure to get from this game. No matter the level, it does not buck. I want to know if they ever tested this toy before they marketed it. And if they did, on who? Also the saddle doesn't stay on. It's a horrible disapointment. Too Bad!

Don't waste your money (at least $15.99 + tax) on this game which should have been named JUNKAROO...My 5 yr. old son received this for Easter, and even he said this game is a "joke" and a piece of "junk"...he is a total game lover, has been wanting this thing since after Christmas, and is sorely disappointed in it, as well as me and his father. It might be better suited for a 2 or 3 yr. old, but watch out for the smaller parts, w/ younger ones. A 5 yr. old is way beyond this game.

We recently got the Buckaroo game and like other reviewers said, the thing would not buck. After some time I figured that it was user error. Since this thing has to be assembled, I did not push the back in all the way. Since the back acts as the switch, it would not go off easily. After we fixed it, things worked just fine. It does not take too long to play and on some days, that's not a bad thing.

this game is cute and teaches kids about balance as well as working in a time frame.do be mindful that if your child is senstive to pop sounds or is easily startled that this game may be intimidating.

We got this game for Christmas and thought that it would bring alot of fun and challenge. There is definitely no challenge to it. I agree with some of the other reviewers in that the horse never bucks regardless of level. Unless you press it as hard as you can to make it buck. Too easy to put stuff on and no fun in the end.
