I can't recommend this game strongly enough for kids and adults alike! 3.0 out of 5 stars Simon Hand Held Game
This is somewhat entertaining, portable and great for long car trips but nothing like the original version when I was a child. The game, when hitting the 'start' button, does not start right away and you have to press every single one in order for it to start; sound is quite loud & annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best, September 3, 2002

I can't recommend this game strongly enough for kids and adults alike! I remember as a kid, my mother, brother and I would spend many an evening gathered around the larger, more clunky version of this game, each of us assigned to a lens or two, trying to recreate random light/sound patterns generated by the machine. Back then, the immense size was probably its biggest drawback. This handheld version is perfect!

The game is wholesome fun and improves memory and concentration to boot. There are three different play options, but the big draw of the game is obviously version 1, which challenges the player(s) to repeat a series of lights/sounds. Simon gets progressively harder, not only adding a light/note to the chain, but repeating them at a faster pace as the player keeps up.

Children and adults anywhere can get hooked on this game! There's even an option to turn the sound off (though it's less fun without sound), so you can carry it and play it in a train, airplane, or other crowded location without annoying the bejeezus out of everyone around you. For an additional challenge now (as an adult), I like to try to take on Simon's challenge with my eyes closed, echoing the musical tones rather than relying on the visual light pattern.

I brought my Handheld Simon back home with me when when I recently visited my family and my mother still loves it now as much as she did when I was a kid. I'm buying her one as soon as I'm done typing this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and education in one fascinating package, October 12, 2002
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

As the clinical director of an outpatient mental health facility for children, I was constantly looking for new ways to engage the youngsters in therapy. One day I brought my son's Simon to the office, and the kids were mesmerized. The clinical staff found Simon to be especially effective in working with children with attention deficit disorder; it helped them to focus and concentrate their attention long enough to engage them in other therapeutic activities such as play therapy and art therapy. Simon was such a hit that we developed a waiting list for using it and had to order four more. My son's original Simon is still going strong after ten years of use (and umpteen battery changes). This is a really great toy that has stood the test of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simon in your hand, October 17, 2001

I've loved simon every since I was a little kid but now I can finally hold it in my hand while playing it not have to put it on the floor or anything else. Now you can play with it on the road anywhere you want, in the car, at your doctors office, a great game for a time where you have a wait ahead of you. This is also the same as the original version which is great! This is a very education game also, you have to memorize different patterens and repeat them back into the simon machine. The toy is very durable game, I have dropped it thousands of times and it still hasen't broken. This a classic toy for the ages and a must- but. I strongly reccomend this.

I won, eight years ago, when I was very young, a toy similar to Electronic Handheld Simon. As a testimony, I say that it still endures to this day and I like it the most. Beyound the exercise we have to be the winner of the maaaany games this toy improves, we work our psico-motor habilities and our concentration. In one word: IT IS NICE, FUNNY AND INSTRUCTS. I give it the best stars, it is one of the best games of intelligence that there is.

I think that this is a great game, because it improves a person's ability to memorize and find a pattern where there is none. it is quite durable and I find it amusing.

I remember the old big simon game - we used to play for hours. My son (8 years old) just got this one and he love it. It is just as addictive as is was years ago and while he thinks it's fun - I think it's great for building memory and concentration skills. It's so hard to find a toy thats fun and educational - this one is!!!

I took this on a road trip and it kept me occupied for a long time. It drove the driver nuts but fun nontheless. I always keep it handy next to my desk and it provides great " break entertainment"

Simon is an excellent tool for improving memory. It stimulates the mind and provides great satisfaction along the way. The handheld version is compact and can easily be carried around in your pocket. I absolutely love it and whenever I am a little down, I play with it and immediately forget my troubles. I recommend this to all kids and especially to adults who are having trouble remembering.

Buyer beware! I bought this in July 2004 and what came was the newer Hasbro version of this (the yellow weird-looking thing) and NOT the transparent looking MB original as in the picture. I was disappointed at first, but after I started playing this newer version for a while, I began to understand why they designed it this way. It's a little bigger than I'd expected or wanted, but it's this size in order for your hands to fit comfortably and not cramp. Also, the center button to start the game in the original is gone is replaced by a small dot-like start button, which was probably placed there in case your fingers missed the play buttons (which would cause you to screw up the game you were playing). The extra 1 inch border may increase the size in a less-than appealing way, but it makes for really easy play and less cramping. I still think they should've kept the old translucent casing, but yellow will do. I love how there are 3 types of games and 4 levels. The original 1-game, 2-3 level ones offer little variety and it's easy to master the first couple levels. This one's still a challenge to me. I've only had this for about a week now, so I don't know about durability yet. It seems well-made.

Whenever your bored, just pull this little thing out and it'll give you something to do, at least for a little while. Simon is a cool little toy that will stay on your keys and only needs a couple batteries to work.
