Product Description

Amazon.com

Don’t let something as inconsequential as nightfall or even total darkness stop you from having fun shooting Nerf projectiles all over the place. This Nerf weapon is built for nighttime maneuvers, featuring eight glow-in-the-dark darts that can either be loaded up for rapid fire or stored on the back of the weapon for later use. Some parts light up with a soft glow thanks to a pair of AA batteries that are required but not included. The batteries don’t effect the gun’s charging, which is still done by pump action. The range of the projectiles didn’t quite reach 30 feet as promised on the box but we still had an awful lot of fun shooting Nerf darts across a darkened room. --Charlie Williams

Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

The darts became jammed in the gun, and it would not shoot.
Randy Boquet
The good news is that the Nerf N-Strike Firefly REV-8 uses the same darts as the Nerf N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25 Blaster - Yellow and the Nerf N-Strike Maverick Blaster.
Jeremy Tyler
You can use other darts in this gun, but the glow ones are necessary if you want to play in the dark.

Verified Purchase
My eight-year old received one of these for Christmas, and he just loves it. It's neither too heavy nor too bulky. He uses the stock against his shoulder, but when his elder brother and I hold it, it rests against our upper arms (which I find comfortable).

THREE BEST FEATURES
-------------------
There are three features that make this an awesome gun.
(1) REPEATER - the barrel chamber that holds eight darts is fantastic. My son can fire off all eight shots in under 10 seconds.
(2) LIGHT - the light adds another dimension to the fun. Viewed from the side, it looks like a muzzle flash. The light helps charge up the glow darts, which I will discuss later.
(3) STORAGE FOR EXTRA DARTS - on the stock, there are brackets that will hold eight additional darts (which must be purchased separately), so you have a ready reload without having to pick up the fired darts.

ONE THING I DIDN'T LIKE
-----------------------
(1) THE INCLUDED DARTS (w/LABELS) - while the glow darts are cool, they only glow because of the glow-in-the-dark label that you must apply to them. The labels must be applied as directed in order to fit the darts, but even when doing so I found that the adhesive was a bit weak on the edge that overlaps the start of the label. The darts would be 1000% better if they could work the glow material into the foam of the darts. You can use other darts in this gun, but the glow ones are necessary if you want to play in the dark. Once the labels start to wear and loosen or tear, you'll need want to use some transparent tape to keep them flat and smooth.

TIPS and OTHER THINGS
---------------------
(1) LOADING - be sure to push the darts all the way into the chambers.

I got this toy for raking the leaves and it is great! The darts travel far (but not 30 feet like it says on the box). The darts are very sticky on the front, and the gun is lightweight. If you are looking for an excellent nerf gun, then look no more! It comes with 8 darts, and has 4 dart holders on either side. The barrel lights up with just 1 short flash each time you pull the trigger. overall, I love this gun and I am sure you will too! Great as a gift to anyone!

I did a bunch of work to get this and it rocks! Eight darts is great, and it shoots really well. The only downside is that the darts are hard to find when you lose them and that you have to put these glow stickers on them and they lower the range. Instead, just let the sution cups glow. I figured out by the ridges on top that you can fit it on the Unity Power system. This is definitly my best gun.

When I got it out of the box, it was great! I quickly learned that the darts it came with didn't shoot that far. So I bought a package of 10 sonic micro-darts. The aerodynamics are better so they shoot farther. Don't out them in all the way, let 2 centimeters stick out. When I shot one flat, it goes a little past 20 feet. When angled though, I got a lot to go past 40 feet! Accuracy is still great! The only downsides are the reload time, and the little orange thing on the barrel, that only allows you to shoot 3 sonic micro darts at a time. Oh yeah, there are 4 ammo holders on either side of thee gun! Overall a great gun for any age!!

I bought two of these for my 9 and 6 year old nephews, and it was a huge hit. You should buy replacement darts at the same time as the gun, as the darts tend to get lost and damaged from rough play. Also, you use the eight or so it comes with quickly and should have more on you to re-load so you don't have to stop playing and pick them up.

This is a great Nerf gun. I got it about 1 week after buying the Nite finder IX-3. It is pretty much the assault rifle of all of the nerf guns. So far it is the only N-strike blaster that holds eight shots. It is the perfect I-am-about-to-jump-in-front-of-seven-guys-all-loaded-with-Mavericks. But for stealth I would rather perfer the Scout (which comes with the N-strike). The Firefly REV-8 takes you with the nite Finder to the ultimate gaming arena: THE NIGHT!!!!! It is awesome! The only thing that I didn't like was that it didn't come with a back strap. I recomend this product with a 16.5 out of 10

The Firefly is an okay gun. Like the other reviews say "Instead of shooting 30 feet it shoots three feet" this is almost true but mine shoots an average of ten feet or less. Unfortunately I haven't found a cure for that but what I found was that the dynamics in the dart are very poor. My brother has a CS-6 and his darts are extremely accurate and shoot about 30 feet but they stink in his gun. So I recommend buying similar darts like the CS-6 has with your purchase. (I would keep the glow-in-the-dark stickers that come with the gun so when you get the extra darts you can put them on the darts so you can find them really easily.)

And back to the gun. The gun has a blue strobe light if you have two AA batteries that are NOT included. Lots of people complain that it gives your postion away, but it doesn't very much. In fact, I find it useful because when you play in the dark it blinds your enemy for a split second and they can't pay attention because it disracts them.

In conclusion I would buy it if I were you just as long as you do as I suggest.
