This is a really nice version of Jenga.,

Both of my 5 year old boys got a Jenga game for Christmas this past year. One got this set and the other got the set that just comes in a box. This is definitely way better because the blocks can be put away nicely in this canister. The box for the other one is flimsy & we've taped it repeatedly already.
As for the game, it's fun & really easy to learn. All of us like it. Every family should have this. None of us are experts yet, but it doesn't matter. The boys like it just as well when the whole tower falls down. Definitely a good gift for ages 5+. ALL ages would enjoy this.

Flimsy stacking tower,

Jenga is a great game but this version ruins it. Instead of the typical plastic sleeve used for stacking the Jenga blocks at the start of the game, this version comes with a flimsy laminated piece of paper instead. This makes it extremely difficult and frustrating to create a straight tower at the beginning of the game. I would recommend purchasing the classic version instead.

Could you possibly come up with worse packaging?,
This review is from: Jenga (Toy)
Jenga is a great game, but the packaging of this version of the game is awful. Not only is it much bulkier than it needs to be, but the stacking sleeve is so bad I might as well say it doesn't have one. Get a different version of the game if you can.

The main thing that differentiates this version from other past versions is that the large bin allows for quick "put away". Other older versions required you to stack them on the V plastic before storing. This one allows you to put them away quickly for those who don't have patience after the game.

The blocks are well constructed, durable, and each block has just slightly different measurements from the others to add a little challenge to the game.
Great value, fun to play, and it isn't that hideous mahogany color that new sets come in.

We've been very pleased with Jenga. It's a lot of fun and the kids enjoy playing it.
The only reason I gave it four stars is that the stacking tool that helps you to quickly set up Jenga was made out of cardboard. The older sets had one that was made out of rigid plastic. It got ruined the first day and ended up in the recycling bin. This had made Jenga slower to set up.

I agree with the other reviewer. Truly flimsy piece of laminated paper that is supposed to hold the blocks while stacking.
Horrible! Can't make straight stacks. Kids confused on how to stack. Not recommended.

Let down by lack of stacker,

I'm guessing they opted for the paper stacker to meet some target price point. It was a big mistake.
A hugely fun game is spoiled. The start of each game is a frustration. An otherwise hugely durable game, with wooden blocks and a good cardboard container is made less durable by using a flimsy, thin cardboard stacker. Jenga - we deserve a stacker that's of similar quality as the rest of the game and packaging. Even if the game costs a dollar more as a result.

Same game as the traditional Jenga. The new box is terrible. Does not come with a proper stacker. Very disappointing.

Jenga is a really addictive game and has no upper limit to the number of people who can play it making it an ideal game-night or party game. This is one game that children and adults can play together, has no learning curve and never gets old or boring. It is surprising that it is not as famous as other games like scrabble or tabboo.
There is ample opportunity to display your skill, judgement and of course, luck in piling up the wood pieces higher at the expense of pieces from lower levels. Highly recommended for the excitement that it creates when you are able to land a block on a 33 level high wobbly tower. |
