My daughter was really excited to get this game for her four year birthday. It was fun, however, the catepillar moves pretty fast. It was difficult for my 9 year old, myself, and especially my four year old, to get the marbles on. I wish there were different levels, like a slower one, for the younger kids. Overall, I guess ok product, but I'd increase the appropriate age level on the box, or implement the different levels idea.

My son got this for his 4th birthday and LOVES it. As mentioned before it is really hard to do when it's moving, it gets harder the higher you go. For now my son loves putting the balls on while it's still and then turning in on when he's all finished. I like that it uses a lot of hand eye coordination and pinching with the tongs is another useful aspect of this toy since a lot of kids have fine motor problems. The bonus of this game is that it is harder and will be a game he can use for awhile. He can put them on while it's still now and later when it's moving. The only drawback of this game (though no fault of theirs) is that my son finds it fun to use the tongs to snap the balls and see them fly, which means lost balls (luckily it comes with one extra of each color).

Wiggling, Giggly Game Full of Fun,

When my son received this for Christmas I thought to my self who would give a 4 yr old a game with Marbles? Found out that this is so much fun and absolutely the perfect game for a 4 yr old or atleast my four yr old. Takes some skills trying to place the marbles on the dancing Caterpillar but it so much giggling fun. We just love it.
Small pieces and if you also have a child who's under 4 in the home like we do be sure to put this game up on the shelf when finished playing. The tiny plastic balls are easily mistakin for candy.

I purchased this game for my 4 year old a few years ago and we only played it a few times. It just did not hold her interest much (not a defect of the toy, more my daughters issues). I recently began working as a Developmental Therapist with infants and toddlers and I asked my daughter if I could use this toy for therapy. I really wasn't thinking about how much this toy could do to help my toddlers with their development until I pulled it out to plan my therapy sessions. My 2 year olds LOVE this toy! We use it to sort colors (we sort the 4 colored marbles into the tray), then for my 2's that need help with fine motor, we use our fingers to put the balls in the hands with the music off. When they get all the balls on, they get to turn it on and we do a dance for doing a good job. When they master that, we put the music on, and they can use their fingers to put the balls on the hands! This is really great for fine motor work and visual tracking! For the toddlers it is also easier for them to use the tweezers to take the balls off rather than on...again working fine motor and hand strength. As they get better, we turn on music and try to do it with game on! There is so much we can work on with this toy, it is a great toy to work on fine motor, counting, colors, sorting, visual tracking and gross motor (when we get up and dance). The children I work with all have special needs or developmental delays, and this toy works so well for all of them. ***NOTE*** To use in the manner I suggest here, the toddlers need parental/adult supervision at all times so they don't put the marbles in their mouth.
My only cons to this toy are I wish it had an on/off button so that I could disable the music starting by the child touching the button to start it and it seems to eat the batteries between uses. I have to take the batteries out between uses or they will not be good any more.

I got this and two other games for the kids (age 6 and 3) for Christmas and they were so excited! When their dad opened the boxes and put in the batteries they started playing each of them. This one all three of them truly enjoyed. There was a lot of very happy yet loud noises at each turn.

Santa brought this game to my 4.5 and 3 year old. Besides my 3 year old being scared of the moving caterpillar it's a great game. My older son was a little frustrated at first but got the hang of it quickly. The game teaches kids to have patience and try, try, try again. Practice makes perfect. I also love the fact that the game can be played within 10-15 minutes:)

Bought this game for my 4.5 yr old son for Christmas and everyone in the family played it, including grandparents. It can be a little difficult, especially when you get to the upper hands, but that's the fun part. It can also be tough with 4 hands knocking marbles off, but again, that's what makes it fun. We played for about 20 minutes. I imagine you can play with it off or turn it off in the middle if that makes it easier or increases the fun. It's a different game and great value for the price we paid. I recommend this for older 4 yr olds and up. My parents even thought about getting it for parties they have, so adults can have fun with it too!

I've played this game with my four-year-old niece several times now and it is really fun, but it is still a little difficult for her. There are seven spots where you have to place the marbles, and as you get higher, the game gets harder because of the movement. This requires some serious hand-eye cordination that most four-year-olds haven't quite developed. It is also a 2-4 player game which means that the kids have to take turns. My niece is very good at taking turns, but this game can take a LONG time to complete. After having played for 20 minutes or so, she still hadn't managed to get a marble past the fourth slot (and that's when she started to lost interest and patience). That was without there even being four players, so just imagine how long the game can take when there are more people. I finished rather quickly, but she was determined to "win too" so she kept at it (she never did make it to the top until we turned off the caterpillar). Another issue we encountered was falling marbles knock off multiple other marbles on their way down. That was very discouraging for her because the rules say you can't go higher until the bottom slots are filled, so she had to re-do several spots once she started trying for the higher hands. The materials also look very cheap. I'm not sure how long this game will hold out, but with the lower age limit, they probably should have used better materials. There are also small pieces (marbles), so if you have younger children in the house you will need to play this game away from them. Bottom line: it can be a really fun (and funny) game, but if the child you're buying it for isn't a mature four-year-old you should probably hold off buying this for a year or two.
