After finding out about FurReal pets, I just had to have one. Of course, my excuse was my four-year old daughter, but I thought these were pretty cute, actually. And, since I couldn't afford Butterscotch (the $250 pony), and was reluctant to spend $70 on the Parrot, I thought this kitty might be just the one. Since it was on sale for under ten dollars, I put it in my cart.
Well, it is kind of cute. And, it does what it says it will do. But, the ads imply that the more attention you pay to the pet, the more loving it will be. This is false. This isn't artificial intelligence here-- it's just a mechanical toy that has two different triggers. If you pet/stroke the cat's back, it begins to mew, purr, and move its paws. If you hold the milk bottle to the cat's mouth, the magnet in the bottle causes to cat to make slurping noises (suspiciously similar to the purring noises) and, again, its paws start doing their thing. All in all, it's a very cute little cat. It's not too huggable, though, since the body is pretty hard due to the mechanics. It's not horrible, though, either. My daughter carried it around for a little while exclaiming how adorable the thing was and how much she loved "Lubadoo" (uh, don't ask. . . she's only four). Only a little while, though. There isn't too much you can do with the kitty and since it's not soft and mushy, you can't even really play with it too much. Still, it's cute. At the price I paid ($9.99 -- not the $42 showing up today!), it would make a great gift, and would look very nice in a little girl's room on a shelf. But, it's not a must-have. When the cat's parts move, you can hear the motor and the mechanics. This isn't disturbing, though.

My daughters pet,

I bought this for my daughter when she was 15 months. We were going on a long trip and I needed something to entertain her. I know it says three and up but she loves cats and when my son was one the inlaws bought him a the bear which he had a lot of fun playing with. The cat was a hit and much cleaner than buying a real one. She has to sleep with it every night. She even tried to give it a bath. The fur on the ears has already fallen off but that is easy to fix with a glue gun. I have to change the batteries often because she plays with it so much. Which is the only con. The screw to the battery compartment is partially concelled by its coat of fur making it slightly difficult to get the screw driver into the screw. You have to pull the opening back really hard. I do not care though. The cat itself is a keeper.

I bought this for my granddaughter. She likes the toy, but is quickly bored with it. For the cost, I wouldn't buy it again.
