My 9 yr old has a SpiDog (spiderman iDog) which is adorable, and while the speaker obviously is not top notch, it's cute, it's portable, and it has its novelty appeal. So, when I saw the pink tattoo iDog AMP'D I decided to get one for myself for the cute factor and the portability. I also figured the stereo speakers would be a nice upgrade from the original iDogs. What a disappointment! As you can tell by my video, the movement of the paw tapping and head movement is so noisey that it greatly takes away from the music! It makes it impossible to listen to music at low volumes! It truly is awful!

I bought my daughter an original idog for her 10th birthday and she played with it so much she wore the poor thing out. So for her 13th birthday I bought her the pink butterfly idog amp'd. She loved her first idog but she likes this one even more. The two speakers make a big difference in the sound level compared to the original with only one speaker. Also the original didn't wag it's tail or tap it's foot. My daughter and I think that addition is pretty cute. ;-)

I just got the I-Dog Amp'D pink butterfly dog for my 8 year old. She attaches her Sansa MP3 player to it. She loves it. The speaker sound is tinny - but it can get really really loud. I haven't heard the regular I-dog so I can't compare max volumes. This one taps its foot, wags its tail and ears and moves its head while lights flash. You can also have it on and play with it without music - petting the face makes it bark, sniff and display lights. I got mine on sale, don't think I would have bought it at full price. Fun, but certainly not a speaker option for audiophiles!

My Daughter Loved It!,

I bought this toy for my daughter, as her older brother had gotten an i-dog last year, and she had been begging for one!As my son has the previous version I can honestly compare the two & here's my opinion: The previous i-dog's head moved from left to right and the ears moved up and down and it played music either through the speakers or by just placing it near a music source. The i-dog amp'd's head moves up and down, the right paw taps and the tail moves from side to side and is also used for volume control. It's motorized movements are still extremly noisy & thankfully my children have never dropped theirs, to test it's durability for such - though I can't imagine that it would withstand too many hard hits (hence the age group of 8+) However, I can safely safe the battery life is extremly long, as my kids literally take theirs every where & constantly "feed" it music & attention. The only drawback & honestly I'm not sure if it really is one - is how short the connecting cord is from the i-dog amp'd & previous i-dog to the device it's being hooked up to - then again, maybe it's a good thing, because it ensures that it will be placed on a safe flat surface.. Educationally - I would say it's helpful in that it teaches them a form of responsibilty in that, the i-dogs need to be "feed" music and attention & has different moods to tell you how the i-dog is feeling from happy to bored to sick etc. From my 8 year old daughters perspective - she absolutely LOVES LOVES LOVES IT - so at the end of the day, I have no hesitation in saying that it's worth the money!

Pumped up Pup!,

I bought this little pup for my 11 year old for Christmas and we have had tons of fun watching it dance and boogie. It works with music in the room, car, kids singing, or plugging in your own MP3, CD, or iPod. The sound quality is great - granted it's not a stereo system, but I think it's wonderful. My only complaint is that the batteries are not rechargable - so I bought the rechargable type and that solved my problem.

What a great toy! My daughter got her i-dog for christmas and hasn't put it down! The instructions are easy to understand, and she loves the idea of "feeding" the i-dog music to keep it healthy!

At the time I bought this my daughter was about to turn 11. She used it occasionally for a few months. But as sound goes, she knows what sounds good and what doesn't. And her clock radio sounds better, so she more often opted to listen to that rather than her iPod with this thing.I think the other reviews from other parents who say the sound quality is good enough for that age child (10-12) is just bad. I really prefer to buy quality products for people, even my children. I suppose there are people out there who think that children don't need something good, but I'm not one of those people. I would rather not have wasted my money on this product and would have preferred to spend that money on something better even if it meant spending a little more.

My mom bought this dog for me for my 13th birthday. The first time I got it, we got a defective dog. Her head didn't move, her foot didn't tap, the motor movements were COMPLETELY dead! We went to 5 different stores looking for a new one. We couldn't find it. We came across one at Walmart. I was so happy that a had FINALLY found her. When we played the music with the motor movements on, we got very annoyed. The motor movements are quite loud (not loud, but not quiet either). But I am still very happy with this dog. Buy it, but turn the motor movements off when you get it. Hope I helped!

What a cute little dog! My daughter loves it! The sound is actually not too bad considering how small the speakers are.
