4.0 out of 5 stars Thundercracker Is Not Lame
The Thundercracker toy has been getting a bad reputation, but there's really nothing wrong with him. His jet mode is a cool look, and unlike other people I think the robot mode is pretty nice looking as well. I needed a bad guy for my "good" transformers to fight, so I bought this Decepticon. I play with this bad boy every day and he has not broken ONCE. That is probably...

Thundercracker looks good in jet mode but loses a lot in the transition to robot mode. He's a skinny, gangly figure with almost non-existent feet and a missile launcher arm nearly longer than his whole body. That is probably because I do not throw my toys at walls.

His only weak points are the flimsy rubber wings and missles. also, his HUGE cannon arm does not stay in place to well. His Earth Cyberkey power is basicly useless in robot form, since you can fire the missle even when the key hasn't opened it. In jet mode, it makes Thundercracker even more awesome since when the key is put in, the cannon pops out of the top of the jet and can even shoot VERTICALLY, a function which I think is so he can fly under other jets and blast them from underneath.

In summary, Thundercracker is awesome. His Pros in Robot are:
awesome poses and huge sword/cannon/shield. His Cons in Robot are: cannon arm is hard to stay in place. Pros in Jet: Awesome looking jet form, orange cockpit, cannon that pops out...etc, etc, etc. His Only con in Jet: flimsy plastic for missles and vertical wings. Despite contrary belief, Thundercracker is an awesome toy.

He's a skinny, gangly figure with almost non-existent feet and a missile launcher arm nearly longer than his whole body. Amazingly, though, he can actually stand without support if you spread his legs a bit. The plastic on him feels flimsy compared to other Cybertron figures, even the smaller Scout class ones. I bought him to complete the series, but any child looking for some hard play value from him could wind up with a broken toy if they're not careful.

First of I am an avid TRANSFORMERS fan since their debut in 1984, but I am not a rabid fan by any means. I di have a wife and a full time job.
THUNDERCRACKER was the first of the new CYBERTRON line that I purchased, and I was not impressed, like the last reviewer stated,
this toy is flimsy and kinda weak.
If I was a little kid I would be ticked because his shoulders always fall down if your moving his arms.
He looks good on the shelf though, especially if you position his SHOCKBLAST size gun arm up like he's holding a sheild, displaying the DECEPTICON symbol.
Although this figure disapointed me I returned to buy the rest of the Wave 1 Deluxe figures, HOT SHOT, LANDMINE, and DIRT BOSS.
These figures are a vast improvement over poor THUNDERCRACKER, I'll review them at a later date.
CYBERTRON THUNDERCRACKER, your grandfather was a great TRANSFORMER, you need to learn a thing or two.

2.0 out of 5 stars breaks easily..., February 4, 2006

I agree with the reviewers who mention that it breaks easily. It broke about the second time that my son transformed it. He's 5 and not hard on toys. We managed to glue it so that it still transforms, but it definitely isn't the easiest/best quality of his Transformers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy shoulder joint ruins this toy, August 7, 2005

Looks awesome in jet mode, but like the first reviewer states, the left shoulder will not stay in place, and theirs no hand on that arm, just a huge cannon. Sucks because he would have been pretty cool, now i just keep him in jet mode. Robot mode blows.
And my girlfriend keeps pointing his toes and makes him look like he's doing ballet. There is something wrong with her too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Weak Design Dooms this figure, October 18, 2005

I'll give it 3 stars overall because Thundercracker does look good in his jet mode (althought nothing compares to the original). But as others have pointed out the trouble is in robot mode when you convert him using the Cyber key. The figure is just to light and skinny and looks like something out of the 1950's. There's no Anime look whatsover. And yes, the joints are way too weak to make this figure decently posable. What a shame that a classic character gets such a short shrift.

This is my 3rd review so i'll make it good. The transformation is a bit frustrating because you'll think you have it all right until you notice a piece not just right. The reason I rated the educational value a 3 is because it will teach you some engineering skills. Now onto the body. The legs: one of the more difficult parts of the transformation. You have to pull some parts of them in some interesting positions. Not to terribily hard but a bit frustrating. The arms: The one thing I do not like is the arms get separated too easily. The cannon arm especally proves my point. Everything else is just fine.

Jet mode: Now this is where the frustration kicks in. Like I said earlier, you just never seem to have it right. If you mess up here, whatever you do, do not throw it down on the floor and start screaming mad. Just do the best you can and leave it at that. The end

5.0 out of 5 stars Misunderstood figure, November 3, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Thundercracker - Transformers Cybertron Deluxe (Toy)
As I read other reviews I feel Cybertron's incarnation of Thundercracker is a bit misunderstood.

I think we can all agree jet mode rocks so that's great. In robot mode, yes he's skinny, or should I say agile? I mean, not every transformer will have the same diet rich in hamburgers, so to me it is a plus that Thundercracker is not fat.

About the toy being fragile, I don't know. I bought it for display at my desk, but I do transform it quite a lot and haven't broken it nor it shows any wear whatsoever. About the arms, and this is why I think it's misunderstod, the are odd but they work, his left arm (the one with the big cannon)is kept from falling and getting out of place by sticking the shoulder in the gap formed by the back and chest parts of the fusselage (a step not detailed in the manual). This also keeps the fore body from swinging when handled by the wings. The other arm is just fine with no problems that I could find.

I agree that he lacks a little meat between the chest an the back in robot mode, but you can still get great poses, as said earlier, by making the cannon double as a shield.

In fact I was little surprised to find complains about the figure, particularly because I decided to buy a second Thundercacker to keep at home.

If you have it, make the most of it, if not, then give it a shot! mine gets good reactions at the office.

Cheers!

My son is big into Transformers right now, and he was oohing and ahhing over Thundercracker for Christmas. I was really disappointed when it broke in 2 not more than 20 minutes after the box was opened. The transformation is a little much for the kiddies I think, and they lose interest in it after a short time. I am being more than fair with my scoring of this item, as any toy that breaks the same day it is opened shouldn't even be on the market.

One of the worst transformers i've seen in years. The picture makes it look cool and it is in jet mode. But once you transform him you realize you've been ripped off. Shame on hasbro for making this garbage!
