Product Description

From the Manufacturer

BRIMSTONE likes the simple things ¿ food, flying, trashing AUTOBOTS®. He leaves stuff like thinking, planning and noticing what's going on in the world around him to his pal UNDERMINE¿, which is just as well because that tiny, little head of his contains a badly undersized CPU. Still, being dumb doesn't make BRIMSTONE any less dangerous. In flight, he is totally silent, and his diamond-edged vanadium wing blades can pierce even the toughest armor.

This review is from: Brimstone - Transformers Cybertron Deluxe (Toy)
Brimstone was the first Transformer I ever bought for my son. He was 3 years old at the time and I occassionally let him watch episodes of Transformers which I had found on old video tapes my mother stored for me from when I was a kid. Brimstone in Cybertron is a Decepticon (bad guy) where in the original series his name was Swoop and was one of the Dinobots. Dinobots were members of the Autobots (the good guys). Now that I've had the chance to watch the Cybertron series of Transformers, I must admit that the value of this toy has dropped in my mind. The good news however is that my son who is now 5, still calls him Swoop since he likes the Dinobots quite a bit. I am currently purchasing our second "Swoop" since the first one just simply fell to pieces. Brimstone makes heavy use of ball joints that depend on the strength of the plastic surrounding the balls maintaining its strength over time. This however is a ridiculous idea at best. It would have been much more logical to add a bit of metal to the design of this toy so that a metal clipping mechanism would be used to hold the ball joints in place. As I said, I am buying my son a second one of these now because even though he has many of the larger more exciting Transformers, this is by far his favorite one ever and frankly, since it costs less than a Disney DVD, I don't see any error in indulging him with this. He's had to clean his room every day for two weeks to earn enough allowance to buy this toy and I'm proud of him for it.

I got this for my 5 year old son, while it's a really cool toy it was a little hard for him to play with. In short it's a great toy for children a little older then 5.
