Product Description

Think fast and write faster to win Scrabble Scattergories. You may be good with words, but can you come up with the right ones in the right categories? Choose how much speed you need on the timer, then roll the dice to determine the first letter of the words you'll come up with. Then come up with the most creative words that fit the category and start with the letter you rolled. You'll score points when you come up with words that nobody else does. But be careful what you come up with. If another player challenges your answer, the rest of the players could vote to reject it. It's crowd-pleasing, fast-thinking fun with Scrabble Scattergories.

I love scattergories, it's one of my favorite games, and my biggest annoyance is that there was no expansion, because me and friends play it so much that we encounter the same letters for each category frequently. When I saw this, I was excited because it seemed to be an updated version and the back of the box even says 48 category cards, a step up from the 16 I had prior. I was very disappointed that there was only 16 cards, just duplicates for more players, and they are 100% identical to the game I already have. Everything about it is in fact the same except with Scrabble slapped on the logo.

If you don't own this game, get it, but if you already own it and want a refreshed version, don't be fooled by this one.

This is one of my all time favorite games - one of our entire family's favorite, as a matter of fact. When we have family and friends over during the holidays, our tradition, especially on Thanksgiving, is, instead of fighting crowds and doing the Black Friday thing, we have family time and play games. This one is a must for our game shelf and can be tailored so many ways to fit different ages or interests.

The basics are that you roll the letter die, and you have a card that contains a list of categories such as 1. Rivers, 2. Rock Bands, 3. NFL Teams, 4. Junk Foods, 5. TV Shows, 6. Things in a garbage can 7. School subjects. These are just examples and not in the actual game, but I will explain in a moment how these categories help to expand the game. Anyway, you set the timer, which is think is two minutes, and everyone lists something for each category that begins with the rolled die. when time is up, only answers that are unique from others can be counted, so if you have the same answer someone else has, such as Tennessee River for the first line, then you can't count it. But if you named the river Thames and no one else did, you count that as a point.

How we expanded ours, and how we tailor it to fit age groups, faster play, etc.
It is very easy to expand this game. I noticed that several commented on how they wish there was an expansion pack. We made several cards of our own on poster board by tracing the existing category card and then listed our own categories on them, such as those listed above. You can get creative and make category cards harder or easier or tailored for sports fans, etc.

If your looking for the original Scattegories games this is your best bet. The other one with the green box is very much a cheaper version. It is playable if your budget is limited. But you have to hold your cards instead of having a holder for the category cards. The timer is a sand turn unit and not a buzzer.

This one is great!

I was a little concerned because it's called "Scrabble Scattergories" rather than just plain 'ol Scattergories. But it's the same game I know and love. Slightly cheaper than I found in stores, and the exact same product, so why not. I love this game :)

I belong to a senior social club and went to event where they played Scattergories, I loved it so I went to the store to buy it and could not afford it. I found it on Amazon at a much lower price and it was brand new so I purchased it, I invited my daughter and grand daughters over and we played. It is our new family favorite game. Again THANK YOU AMAZON.

This was delivered promptly and everything was included. Just encountered this game at a "Game Night" event and couldn't wait to order my own. This is an earlier version which was recommended to get because it is more sturdier than the newer version. Looking forward to enjoying this fun game with new friends.

Our family had a lot of fun playing Scattergories. It was fun finding out the different words everyone thought of. When I bought the game I didn't realize it was for 2-6 players. We had 7 people playing so we improvised and had two people share the list cards and used the cover of the box to shield their answer sheets. It worked just fine and we played through all 13 lists.

What I like about this game is no matter how many times you play it, it will always be different because it depends on what letter you roll.
