Baby Alive - Great Doll!,
This review is from: Hasbro Baby Alive African American Doll (Toy)
My 3 year old daughter loves this doll. The faces she makes are so cute and face is smooth like skin. She is a little messy though when it comes to feeding her. We've only done it once - it was quite a hassle. The amount of water you have to give her to wash the food down goes right through the doll and her diaper and on the floor - the diapers cannot soak up that much water!
It is still a cute doll, and my daughter just pretend feeds her, and will occasionally give her a little water from the bottle and change her diaper. I still like it besides the messiness - you don't have to feed her. She's still cute and says the most adorable things, and my daughter is in love with her!

The Best Toy Ever!,
This review is from: Hasbro Baby Alive African American Doll (Toy)
I love this doll and so does my 5 year old daughter. This was the first and last thing on her Christmas list for 2006 so I knew I had to get it. She goes to sleep with the doll and talks to it like a real person, she loves it.
However, I was very upset that I ended up paying double the price (I could only find the doll on AMAZON.com) of the doll due to the high demand for the African-American doll. It was easier to find the OTHER ONE, which was very upsetting to me. I even contacted HASBRO, and they were no help at all. Long story short I will not be purchasing any more HASBRO TOYS.

My daughter really enjoys the doll I purchased for her birthday. I did not appreciate the fact that the Caucasian doll was $10 less than the African American and Hispanic Doll. Amazon should review when pricing things on line that are the same. The doll serves the same purpose for all children and the price should be the same for the same doll. I called Amazon to ask the question why the difference in price and my question never received an acceptable answer. I enjoy shopping on this site but this may be a deterent in the future due to this issue.

I AM UTTERLY DISGUSTED! I am an AVID DOLL COLLECTOR and I buy as many dolls as I possibly can.
That is how I know that all of you complaining about the difficulty in finding (and the OUTRAGEOUS prices of!) the African American & Hispanic version of these dolls are absolutely SPOT ON!!!!! I have been looking for/trying to buy the ethnic version of this and several other dolls and am soooooooooo frustrated at the lack of availabilty & the INSANE PRICE GOUGHING INVOLVED! If you DO manage to FIND THE DOLL THE PRICE IS SO INSANELY HIGH THAT YOU JUST CAN'T AFFORD IT! And I am a grown-up (white) doll "collector" who doesn't neccesarily "need" these dolls. I can only IMAGINE THE FRUSTRATION LEVEL OF THE BLACK/HISPANIC PARENTS & GRANDPARENTS OUT THERE TRYING TO GET THESE DOLLS FOR THEIR CHILDREN/GRANDCHILDREN. I WOULD BE LIVID!!!!!!!! SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS TO CALL THESE DOLL COMPANIES AND THE STORES THAT CARRY THESE DOLLS AND JUST REALLY GIVE THEM HELL!!!!!! I am thinking of doing just that this week! I mean really don't we have just as many African Americans in this country now as we do "white folks"? As a white person I am ASHAMED OF THIS. We can and should be doing so much better than this. When I find a doll I like I want it in every possible color and gender. But what do you ever get but a female white doll dressed in pink? We deserve SO MUCH MORE! I want The Afican American version, the hispanic version & then I want all 3 versions (white, AA & Hispanic in a BOY DOLL!) And the fact that it is so difficult to find and/or get these things is a sign to me that WE NEED CHANGE!!!!!! We got a change on our government. How about a change (FOR THE BETTER!) in the products that are available to our children? We NEED to hold these toy companies and stores ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE UNFAIR DISCREPANCIES! I have said so many times that "If I were in charge thinsg would be different!". Their would be much more VARIETY, more AVAILABILTY, and the prices would be REASONABLE AND FAIR!!!! DON'T STOP VOICING YOUR OPINION ON THIS MATTER. THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE NEED TO HEAR FROM US IF WE ARE EVER TO GET ANY CHANGE. I think that ALL VERSIONS OF THE DOLL SHOULD COST THE SAME PRICE AND ALL BE EQUALLY ACCESIBLE. And yes the doll itself is lovely and I highly reccomend it. But not at this price here. This is just INSANE. It is high time for a change. That's my opinion. Hope that someone with influence maybe reads this and TAKES A HINT!!!!! I GIVE 5 STARS FOR THE DOLL ITSELF. 0 STARS TO THE TOY COMPANIES & STORES FOR MAKING IT SO HARD TO GET AND 0 STARS FOR ANY AND ALL VENDORS TRYING TO RIP US OFF TO GET ONE. GOOD LORD IS THIS INSANE.

I must admit, I didnt like the fact that the African American version of the doll was not available online or at stores during the Christmas Holidays. But at least it was available in time for my daughters birthday. This was the MUST HAVE item on her Christmas list. She is very pleased with it.

This doll is on sale at Target right now for $42.99. I just picked up one on Friday. They had the African-American one and the white one. I don't know what the problem with Amazon's pricing is, but don't buy it here.

I bought this for my eight and five year old daughters. They absolutely love her. They are completely fascinated by the talking, facial expressions and of course the pooping. She really is very life-like.
My only criticism is that the doll does not come with enough food packages or diapers.

My 5 year old daughter got this doll for Xmas and still sleeps with it every night. The dolls lip color went off less than 48 hours later, but I consider that very minor. It still functions perfectly.
Most importantly, my daughter's self esteem has improved greatly thanks, in part, to this doll. The day after Christmas she said "I know why Santa gave her to me. I have learned my lesson. I like being black now." Needless to say this doll was worth every single penny!

Baby Alive is really alive! Santa brought this doll for my 7 year old daughter. She absolutely loves it! The expressions and sounds are amazing. Our entire family was in stitches over all the baby's different expressions. The doll would be silent for a while and then all of a sudden pipe up with a comment. Warning - it does not come with enough diapers or food packets. Luckily we found some food packets at our local Target the day after Christmas. We purchased a large pack of newborn diapers which fit perfect and are much more reasonably priced than the Baby Alive diapers($1.00 each). Always keep a diaper on this doll as she can leak all over your floors and furniture if you are not careful. She even says excuse me after she burps. My daughter slept with her and she woke up in the middle of the night just like a real baby. My 3 year old who shares her room was not happy about this so now we make sure to turn her "off" at night.

This doll is toooooo cute. Everything about her seems so real from the singing to the crying, from the eating to the pooping. She says I love you mommy and laughs. But when she does her sad face it's the best. My daughter interacts with her really well and replies I love you too Tori (her doll's name). I only paid 30 bucks for her but would have paid more if I had too. She is worth it.
