A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hasbro Baby Alive Doll, Caucasian (Toy)
Hi,my little sister bought this baby alive doll. She really liked it for the first few days. After the third day she got sick of it.Let me tell you why.

Parents, this doll is bunches of fun,but please be aware of the fact that this doll is very messy.Fun but messy. The food that comes with this doll doesnt go into the mouth good, when it does,it goes directly into the diaper(baby alive only comes with 2 diapers, one of them she is wearing). You have to give her water after every bite so that the food will go down. She leaks. Her skin is rubber and dust sticks to it.The food gets stuck inside her body which causes the food to mold.

Hey,its sort of fun,but just try to think about it before you make a purchase.

2.0 out of 5 stars All my daughter wanted for her birthday..., November 27, 2006

This is the only thing that my 7 year old wanted for her Birthday. After much searching, I located Baby Alive with bonus pack. She was thrilled with her baby, until she tried feeding her. She would not eat the food. I went on-line and tried everything they suggested. Nothing worked. When my daughter wiped the food off the dolls lips, the paint came off. Did I mention this was within the first hour of having the doll. When I asked my daughter how she liked the doll, she said , "She's o.k., but she doesn't eat her food and the water from the bottle leeked all over except in her diaper." Needless to say the ONLY thing she wanted for her birthday went back to the store and was replace with a Magical Glo Bear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute doll!, December 28, 2006

My daughter received this for Chirstmas and she loves her! She has had no problems feeding the doll and she does eat the food, some may dribble down but my daughter said and I quote "It's a good thing she has a bib!" Much much better at feeding than the baby born doll plus easier to clean out! The food and water go right through her and the directions say after you are done playing to flush her out with a botlle or 2 of water. The water goes in so easy(you just squeeze it) You just hold her over the sink and squeeze the water in and she is all clean! Not like the baby born where you had to giver her the water and put her on the potty and push down forever that was a real chore! I am very happy with this doll compared to others we have purchased!

2.0 out of 5 stars Baby Alive not worth how much I paid, October 18, 2006
I purchased the baby alive for my daughter and in ONE day the lips rubbed off just from using the bottle and spoon. She had not even fed it food yet! Not only does it look 3yrs old in one day the hair on the baby alive leaves alot to be desired. The packaging smashes down the hair making it look full, but once you get the doll out it looks like it has had a hair transplant! I would not buy this doll again and have already contacted Hasboro and they are sending a replacement - but that does not fix the underlying problems with the product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke after 1 month, November 25, 2006

This review is from: Hasbro Baby Alive Doll, Caucasian (Toy)
My daughter loves this doll. I only let her use water to feed her so not sure how messy she can be, but one day while doing this my daughter played with the dolls eyes and the doll started malfunctioning. So don't let your kids play with the eyes. THe doll will make loud clicking noises and not work. Not worth the money for only 1 month of play.

I bought this for my 4 year old daughter. Its very expensive for what it does. Also you only get 3 diapers with the starter pack and you go through them fast. Also they are kind of hard to put on and its messy. Also its hard to put the spoon in the mouth, you kind of have to shove it in and let it slide off the spoon. My daughter likes it but as the parent I thing its kind of a lot of work and too much money. And it only has a few sayings!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the $$$$, February 13, 2007

This review is from: Hasbro Baby Alive Doll, Caucasian (Toy)
Like most other kids, this was the only thing that my daughter wanted for Christmas. We had a major melt down over the doll in Wal-mart. Well her Grandmother did buy her this for Christmas and I managed to get some accessories for her too. We all thought this was going to be great because we are expecting another child soon and thought this would be good for her. It would have been perfect but like so many others have said it doesn't always work properly. You have to really recline the doll to get the food to go down and if you do like the instructions say you have to give her a ton of water to make it really go down or it will clog the doll up. When you do this beware! It leaks everywhere because the diapers fit so snuggly that they leak and make a huge mess. Also because they are so snug it is very hard for my child(who is 5) to actually get them on the doll. This is so frusterating because then I have to do it all and she feels like she isn't getting to really play with the doll herself. Also the instructions say to rinse the doll with several bottles of water over the sink to make sure there is no remaining food. Well if you do this how are you supposed to change her after she makes a "stinky". I tried this too and it made my daughter upset because she felt like she wasn't really able to take care of the baby. Also the food does stain the clothes even if you wash them right away, if any leaks on them which happens well-everytime! We went a couple of weeks with out feeding the doll and then like someone else said it leaked everywhere-out of all of the doll's extremities and neck. I thought it was broken but it hasn't done it again since so who knows what was wrong with it that time. Also the only food packages I have found are beans and pears. On the box it shows something orange and my daughter asks why we can't feed her the kind that's on the box. The accessories are hard to find and very over priced. We haven't been able to find anything for the doll(in a store rather than online) since a month before Christmas-good thing we stocked up then. We also decided to try Huggies preemie diapers for the doll and they work much better and cost so much less. They are also easier for my daughter to put on the doll because they have stretchy tabs. Utimately I guess you could just say that the doll is very expensive and doesn't do exactly what it says so I was a little disappointed. My last gripe is that my daugther has asked me several times why her hair doesn't look the same as it does on the box. On the box the dolls hair is very nice and full, the real doll's hair is very thin and her face constantly stays fuzzy. The only thing that does clean her face well is goo-gone. Just don't rub too hard or the paint will come off. Some of the dolls paint on her lips has come off like others have said just from normal feeding. I wouldn't recommend this product unless they change the design to fix the problems and also lower the price-but like that is going to happen anytime soon!

I cannot believe that all the diapers that just have some colored water on it are needlessly going to land fills. Is it only about how cheap diapers can be bought. I think the doll is over all great and there should be reusable and washable cloth diaper available with the doll. I understand that it is in toy company's interest to have diapers and food for the dolls, but we must think about the future of our kids and make the doll a little eco freindly.

My daughter had to have this doll for Christmas. Every time the commercial came on she had to drag me into the room to see her. I bought her two months before Christmas and still had to go to several stores to find her. I picked up all of the accessory packs I could find to insure she had plenty of food and diapers for Christmas morning. After investing over $100 I could not have been more disappointed with the doll.

She leaks almost everytime you feed her. We have to replace batteries every two days even though she seems to sleep most of the time. The lip paint on her lips had worn off before Christmas day was even over not to mention the rubber collects all kinds of dirt which you can't get off without rubbing, and it says NOT to rub her face. Her hair plugs are so far apart she is almost bald. Her voice is now crackling despite battery changing. I think it has leaked into the voice speaker on her back and damaged her permanently.

I was unable to return as I had purchased at Sam's two months before Christmas and it was well beyond the 30 day return policy by the time my daughter even got it.

Hasbro needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. For $50 it should hold up for more than just a few months. There was a reason they stopped making the original in the 70's and there are plenty of reasons why they need to stop making this version too.
