4.0 out of 5 stars Great battery free doll!
My mother bought this as a treat for my four year old daughter. She has played with her many, many times, and I am pleased that she is an "action" doll that requires no batteries. You insert the straw into her mouth, and squeeze her tummy to get her to sip up her drink. The only drawbacks are that she doesn't come with enough diapers and juice mix. However, you CAN use...

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much work for a parent
I have a 2, 3 and a 4 year old girls and really, it's just too much work for the parent. The baby drinks the juice so quickly that my kids were (we haven't played with the doll since Christmas day) constantly asking me to refill and help them change the diaper.... Since Christmas, I haven't helped them with the doll because it's just too much work period. Maybe if you...

However, you CAN use ordinary tap water, so I add a couple of drops of food coloring to a 16 oz bottle of water, and it makes it look like juice for the doll. We've had fake blueberry juice, orange juice, apple juice, strawberry juice. Much more creative for the child this way, with the same effect. As for the diapers, it's like $[...] for a pack of 5 diapers for this doll. I bought a generic package of newborn diapers ($[...] for 40), which are slighly big, but if you overlap the tapes they serve the purpose. My daughter was much happier being able to play with her over and over again, instead of just a few times before running out of supplies. My six year old has also had a good time with her, and I'm hoping that in another year or two we can use it as a potty training type doll when my youngest is ready to be trained. Overall, I think it's a great little doll.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked for us, September 4, 2007

I bought this to use with our Potty Party (see "Potty Train Your Child in Just One Day" by Teri Crane). When you give her a drink, the water runs out almost immediately so you have to use an eye dropper to have her urinate when you are sitting the doll on the potty. That being said, my daughter loves this doll. She bonded with her instantly and carries her everywhere. She's stood up to being uncerimoniously banged around on occasion. I chose this doll over the fancier electronic Baby Alive because she was cheaper and not as creepy (any parent who knows about the movie Child's Play would be creeped out by a doll who says, "I want to play"). I was unable to find doll clothes, specifically panties, for her. I was able to easily alter toddler panties for her.

Overall, we are very pleased with this purchase.

The baby drinks the juice so quickly that my kids were (we haven't played with the doll since Christmas day) constantly asking me to refill and help them change the diaper.... Since Christmas, I haven't helped them with the doll because it's just too much work period. Maybe if you have older girls who enjoy dolls and could do it by themselves, but the baby leaks and is sort of messy too so be prepared to be running after your child cleaning the dolls mess up.

3.0 out of 5 stars My kids love this doll, December 30, 2007

My kids love this doll. I like everything about it EXCEPT... after the kids finish feeding the baby doll, we have to continue to squeeze the baby to make sure ALL of the 'juice' comes out. Otherwise you change the diaper after a feeding and the doll leaks and you end up changing the diaper again. Gets expensive when you go thru more diapers than you really need to.
I have found that Huggies preemie dipers fit pretty well on this doll and are A LOT cheaper than buying the Baby Alive diapers.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Little Messy and Not Very Unique, December 25, 2007

My daughter really wanted Baby Alive thanks to the marketing hype. Amazon happened to have a great deal on it, so Santa was able to bring it for her. This is a step down from the deluxe Baby Alive, but it still does some bodily functions, so it was enough for her.

I don't think she is an especially cute doll. The hair is plastic, molded to her head, which I am not sure if I like or not. The little diapers are way too expensive, and they tell you not to reuse them. My daughter had used the two provided in about four minutes, so this could be an expensive toy if I were to buy the diapers. We just hung them up to dry because we just used water for her "drink".

The orange juice mix that comes with it is the big mess. Apparently it stains carpet, has to be washed out of the doll by running clean water through, and surely ruins those diapers fast. So I am hiding that mix at this point.

I think this doll would be very valuable for potty training, but for my four year old, I project she will unceremoniously tossed in the big toy chest by Valentine's Day. She is not very special and the peeing and changing diapers fun doesn't keep it novelty very long.

There were not enough diapers for this toy and the replacement pack is expensive. After using the diapers up the toy was boring. Not a great purchase.

Molded plastic hair and creepy eyes! On my daughter's doll one of the eyes stays open when you lay her down, and I can count on one hand how often she has played with this doll so I don't believe this was caused by excessive play. Also, the outfit that the doll came with was just a shirt and the diaper as shown (no diaper cover). If you were potty training or had a little girl that really loves dolls, then this would be a fine addition, but if you have a little one that likes to play/style hair, this is not the doll for you. I would toss the Juice mix that comes with the doll as other reviewers have mentioned and just stick with water.

i bought this doll for my 3 yr old for xmas and she played it for 2 minutes. i never put the orange juice in the cup only because the reviews i read about how it makes it smell but my daughter also go the baby alive potty doll for xmas which entertains her much more than this and has a whole lot more options as far as feeding and what not. its a cute doll just didnt entertain my daughter as much as the baby alive potty doll.

Purchased this gift for a two-year-old girl. She is all girl and she LOVED the baby. It is just an extra treat for her mommy that it also wets diapers, too! I can't comment on the durability, etc., being that the only part we saw was the unwrapping and chants of "Baby!" "Baby!"
