Electronic Talking!,

This review is from: Clue FX (Toy)
As a huge clue fan I felt that I had to buy this because it had a talking gameboard. I was shocked when I opened it to find that it is practically nothing like the original clue. It has suspects, locations and weapons on cards still, but there is no dice and you have to "interview" all of the suspects (you look in their envelope which has a card in it...it's hard to explain). Since me and my college friends have nothing better to do we've played it almost every night since we got it. Its a really fun game if you go into it thinking that you are not really playing clue, and you are just playing some new game. But in the end, we have played at least 3 games every night, sometimes staying up until 4am. It's really fun but DONT THROW AWAY YOUR REGULAR CLUE!! (ps. one really negative thing is that since you aren't a suspect and you are a detective, there is a max of 4 players. One plus this that now you can play clue with 2 players.)

I read the reviews to this game and was not sure if I would like the game. I love the original clue game and was somewhat skeptical because of some of the reviews. My husband and I then began playing the game and loved it. It is a quick game that you can play over and over again. In one night we played four games. This game is very similar to the original game with fun twists. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed playing the original clue game.

I was sucked into buying this game because it said "deluxe" on the box. The directions are pretty long and it takes a while to finally understand the game. Don't get me wrong the game is okay...after all, it does have a very pretty box, lol. However, at several points in the game I thought that maybe I should have stuck to the original Clue. The original clue is a lot easier to understand. And the talking voices kind of get repetitive and annoying after awhile in the deluxe edition.

Clue was a favorite growing up, so when Clue FX came out, I was intrigued. The game is very different now, with different suspects, locations, weapons, etc. That was a little disappointing, because you got used to the characters and the weapons and rooms growing up, but it was fine overall. I enjoy playing this version, but in moderation. That's because there are several drawbacks (mostly with sounds):
1. If you are playing with people you want to have a conversation with, it becomes extremely annoying that the game keeps talking to you, telling you when it's someone's move and not giving anyone enough time to decide about their move or think something through before the announcer reminds you, "Miss Lavender, please move." I cannot tell you how many times this has irritated us to the point we decide to stop the game, or we cut down how long we will play it because it is getting so frustrating. 2. As an adult, it's a little embarrassing to pull out this sound FX, 3-D game board that seems better suited for a young person's game time. 3. The time factor between it becoming your turn and the announcer starting to irritate you with prompts to move is extremely short, so even if you are not trying to have a conversation, but simply want to think for a minute, it's annoying. What is more frustrating is there is a button you can push if someone is taking too long (for real) in making their move that will force a prompt, so why did this game get set up to prompt you automatically? And it keeps going, so if you are just simply taking a bathroom break or getting something to drink, it gets old really fast. 4. When you find a suspect, they say something and when people keep finding the same suspect and you keep hearing them say the same thing, it gets very annoying. 5. I do like the FX to prompt you to think about suspects having moved to new locations and having to find the inspector to make your guess about who did what with what and where. But I have to say, I miss the original play.

arguably the best version of Clue yet,

As a fan of all things Clue, I bought this game the instant I saw it. While not unlike the original board game, Clue FX brings a new spin on an old classic that can entertain for hours.
The biggest perk of this game is that it is for 2-4 players. This is the first version of Clue I've seen that works for just two people, which is great when you can't find enough people to play the original. Also, the way the game has been engineered, regardless of number of players, no one is at an advantage. In the original Clue, whenever 4 or 5 people played, some people got more cards than others. This is not the case here! While maintaining the typical who/with what/where format of the original, Clue FX provides eight suspects, and adds the twist that each suspect holds one of the "innocent" cards. So, not only do players need to make suggestions to deduce whodunit, but they also need to track down each of the eight suspects as they search the grounds. Another change is that players can move anywhere on the board in each turn, which speeds up the game. While it could be confusing to newcomers, Clue FX is a welcome and exciting twist on the original game. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Although I had never played the original Clue game, the talking version appealed to me. Clue FX is a fun game that is educational in two ways. It uses problem solving and listening skills which improve everyday skills as well. It says "more mystery" on its cover and it is true to its word. It has more suspects than the original game. To summarize: If you took the best features from every single game I ever played, plus added a few of your own that you never saw before, Clue FX adds up to that.

This game is Pretty Good. It goes a little bit quicker then the orginal and isnt as challenging (such as, you can go to any room any time without rolling the dice) and you don't rely as much on the other players (the "suspects" give you clues instead) so you dont interact with them as much. But the game is entertaining. Its fun finding the suspects and at the end the inspector.

I got this game last year around the holidays and ever since then I must've played it at least 100 times. In this version, you are to go investigate a mansion as a detective trying to find out who killed Mr. Meadowbrook (Not Mr. Body). They have the original suspects but they added a few more such as Mrs. Meadowbrook, and Rusty. And this time, it talks! But be sure to have new batteries(not included) or else half the board won't work. When you think you know who, what, and where it is, you must find the Inspector who is kind of your supervisor. When you find him, tell him you want to solve the case. If you're wrong the other player is the winner.

FUN:More fun than the original. I like the talking board and the character voices that greet you in each location. (PEACOCK: "Hello, lovey!" SCARLET: "The name's Scarlet, MISS Scarlet!" WHITE: "Oh, hello my dear!" RUSTY: "Don't you be giving me a fright!" MUSTARD: Hello there! Colonel Mustard's the name!") I also like hitting the button that makes the board say something that makes the person whose turn it is not take so long. (BUTLER: "I can't believe it is STILL your turn!") EDUCATION: DURABILITY: Remember what I said about the board, be careful with it. Mine messed up two days after I got it because I had bent it the wrong way. Hasbro is being nice enough to let me mail the game to them and they will send me a brand new one at no charge. They are also letting me keep the notepad as a spare for my new one!

What a fun game this turned out to be! I was a little skeptical when I first saw the commercial for this 100 or so years ago, hehe, but then when I went over my friend's house, I wanted to play it to see if it was fun. IT WAS! I begged my Mom to get it for me and my friends play it with me all the time. CLUE FX is like the regular CLUE game, where you have to find the suspect, weapon, and room that all relate to the murder of someone. You have to get cards to mark of people, places, or things until you are left with the details of the crime. In CLUE FX, you don't waste turns if you didn't roll enough to get into a room. You ALWAYS go in a room, no matter what. Everytime you go in a room, you push your character down on a sensor thing and then, the electronical part of the toy tells you the suspects. You take the suspects envelopes and look at the card. There are many new characters in this game.
BOTTOM LINE: If you have enjoyed CLUE, you will enjoy CLUE FX. If you have never played CLUE, find one of your friends that have it and play there's. If you didn't enjoy CLUE...well...your weird, hehe. CLUE FX is a wonderful twist to the classic game and will be forever enjoyed by all ages. |
