Product Description

Editorial Review

In this simple game of color matching, players must gather a nest full of similar ducklings to complete a nest. The star of the board is a big hard plastic mother goose who flaps her wings and says mostly "duck" and, once in a while, "goose". On "goose" players must grab for the nearest duckling and see if the color on the bottom matches the color they're collecting. The directions are simple and well explained, which should endear the game to young players to whom board games can often be overwhelming and frustrating. But the little ducklings are made of cardboard making us worry how likely they are to endure the punishment dished out by young players. But if the set can be kept in tact, this makes for a fun and simple introduction to game playing. --Charlie Williams

Product Description

Duck Duck Goose has been around for years, and kids still love this game. Now you can play the same beloved nursery school game in a game board version. Move the animated goose around the pond, and make its wings flap up and down. With each splash, the goose calls out "Duck" or "Goose". When you hear "Goose", pick up the adjacent duckling, and see if the color on the bottom matches one of the colors in your nest. The first player to gather three ducklings into his or her nest wins. Press the tail, and everyone gets to hear the song.

My 3 1/2 year old absolutely loves this game. She likes to sing the song and the pieces are just the right size for her. Some of the cardboard ducks can be a little flimsy but we've had great fun with this game as a family. I also like the fact that the game is short and winning is "luck of the duck" so it helps us as parents work on good sportsmanship while playing multiple times so everyone can win.

This game is played much like the "tag-type" game we played in elementary school except that it is a board game. It helps young children learn to match colors, to move around the board clockwise, and to take turns. The delightful goose sings and flaps her wings. I have purchased this game for each family of grandchildren and we have a great deal of fun playing it together.
